This is my first posting at this website and I hope someone would be kind enough to guide me as to when is a good day to make offerings (as in prayers) to the deceased during the CNY period.

I'm born in the year of the Dog & my brother, in the year of the Tiger.

Dear Sable,

Usually, if an offering is made, it is best made during the eve of Chinese New Year which was suppose to be 8 February 2005.

Often, during the 1st to the 15th lunar day, it is best to avoid making an offering. Thus, the next best date is on the 16th lunar day i.e. 24 February 2005. It is considered not auspicious to do so between 9 Feb to 23 February 2005
