I understand that flying star 8(be it a mountain star or water star), it is considered auspicious star in period 8. Would like to know, in period 9, whether flying star 8 remains as good star or otherwise. Shall I conclude that flying star 8 remains as a good star in any periods.

The same star number found as the reigning period will always be the current prosperity.

ie. Period 8

Fading Prosperity = star 7
Current Prosperity = star 8
Future Prosperity = star 9

ie. Period 9

Fading Prosperity = star 8
Current Prosperity = star 9
Future Prosperity = star 1

So the answer to your question is that your star 8 will be fading prosperity when it comes to period 9. Stars will change in auspiciousness depending on the current period.
