i was wondering, what does the decade luck period mean? "luck with you" and "luck against you"? what does that depend on? i noticed that it has no relation to branches or stem relationships with the 4 pillars.

In your ba zi, there is this luck flow that changes every couple of years. Something like the seasons ie every 3 months there is a change in season. So in the ba zi, there is something similiar like this. A person can either be travelling in the direction when luck is with you or luck is against you.

There is a 10-yearly luck flow, and a yearly luck flow. So every few years the 10-year luck will either go with or against you. Same goes for the yearly luck.

So that is the difference. Even if a year is good, but if luck is not with you, things may not go as smoothly as a year that has luck with you but is average.
