I will be collecting my keys on 5 September 2007. Would it be okie to open my door on that day or should I wait until the hungry ghost festival ends? What are the repurcussions if I open the door during hungry ghost festival? Partner's mum wants us to open after hungry ghost festival. Kindly advise

Generally, most people will avoid collecting key, intial opening of door, move-in, start of renovation during this 7th month. This is to avoid accidentially `inviting' a ghost/spirit into the house.

So it is best to wait until after the Chinese 7th Month before you actually collect or open the door. End of 7th month is just 10 Sep 2007 which is 5 more days away from 5 sep.
