Meaning of base star numbers in flying stars?

Cecil,
What does each base star number represent? I only know that base star number 1 represents water. How about the other base star numbers? What is the significance of each base star? How does it affect each sector of the house? Is it less important than the mountain star number and water star number?
I know these are a lot of Qs again. Hope you can further explain to me. Thanks much.
