Posted July 24, 200817 yr I'm building a fish pondwhich will soon be finished and shall rear koi fish in it. Is there a particular best number of koi fish to put inside the pond or should the number of koi be as many as my age? Thanks.
Posted July 24, 200817 yr Staff 1. For a fish tank with GOLD fish(es):-Traditionally, should have 7 gold plus one black. Total = 8 fishes. Or as a last resortwhen say one of the gold fish dies.. then it becomes6 gold plus one black.2. In modern times (today) For koi fish(es), in general, many who can afford to rear such a fish, usually have a large (larger) pond. And it is acceptable to rear as many as one feel - comfortable with it. As 8 koi fishes can seem little in a averaged sized pool. 3. Based on a famous Chinese koi fish painting: this painting has a total of 9 plus 9 fishes (which symbolises 99 ) or longevity! When we count the fishes it is actually 9 + 9 = 18 fishes.4. On a practical side, we cannot always be concerned about how many fishes we have. For example, especially if we are given the task to count and re-count how many fishes in our pond. Very unproductive. Just enjoy the koi fishes. For example, they have a habit of circling the pond when one feeds it at specific time of day.....
