Dear Elena, The `worst' position is the `coffin' position where the bed faces the door directly. Where the legs or head face the bedroom door. Other than this, it is natural for part of the bed to be seen from the door. It "happens" everywhere so this is not a real issue. Or too minute to worry about. Dear Elena, 1. It is not necessary to turn on the lamp 24 hours a day. This is most uneconomical. 2. The best alternative is to use red or purple to represent the fire element. 3. I do not recall, using the red thread on its own. A red thread is used to control the cure of using 6 coins. Where the red thread is used to control the big metal. (Not let it out of control). 4. Quite effective is to use objects that are red. For example a table lamp with a red shade. (Purple is acceptable but red is the best). "Imaginative" but effective cures include disply Coca Cola cans etc.. The size should effective be the size of at least 4 coca cola cans or a reasonable sized (regular) lampshade. 1. Most of us are familar with the Four Symbolic Animals. 2. In Chinese Astrology, the Four directions are deplicted each by a general of that direction i.e North, South, East and West. 3. Dear Anon, This is another `portion' of Flying Star which has its own ruleset and points of view. This is considered a minor influence to the actual Flying Star. It is no harm having it but is secondary. We would include this minor portion later. It is less effective than elemental relationship. The most important theories is the relation of Flying Star using the Five Elements concept. Dear Anon, This is the general belief amongst some Feng Shui Masters that the door with the house number on it is the main entrance door. Although, some of these Masters did not mention that placing the unit number at another location can change the `main entrance door'. This is implied by them. Here, symbolism is important to Feng Shui: where the unit number `shows' that it is a main door. In my opinion, I would recommend the placement of the unit number for such purpose. Dear Emma, 1. An alternative to using a screen in the room between the bed and the bathroom door is to place a side table. On the side table, place a side table lamp. Those with one bulb and with a lamp shade. This is symbolic of having a screen between the bed and the bathroom door. 2. It is also good to do an Eight House Chart to see what intangible force is at the bedroom sector. 3. From day 1 of this site and forum, we do not believe in using the `fixed template' format i.e. relationship corner at the SW sector. Dear Cloud, Although, I have some idea of what the `tray' ceiling looks like but have not seen one closely so cannot (fully) comment on how `bad' it is. Overall, two Feng Shui `tools' are available: 1. A pair of flutes in a `Ba Gua formation' ----- / \ 2. Dear Anon, Ideally, it should be a painting e.g. of a mountain scenery or an object with immovable mass. For the bamboo style plate, in general, it is in my opinion too `weak' to be classified to activate the mountain star. Dear Anon, The main purpose of checking whether the two bedroom doors faces each other is based on one of the principles of Shapes and Form School where if there are two doors especially two bedroom doors that face each other, most likely there is a tendency for `rilvary'. As you have confirmed that it is rather a "triangle effect," there is less of this possibility. As the triangle effect is less known situation. Frankly, I do not want to be disappointed but there is no known direct relationship between Feng Shui and sibling rilvary. The closest to it is the Chinese Astrology signs e.g. http://www.lovesigns.net that looks at each person's characteristics based on their year of birth. By understanding each other's characteristics, it is said that then, one can understand why, someone behave in a particular way. Similarly, by looking at one's characteristics one better understands our own strengths and weaknessess. Feng Shui does not deal directly with personal relationships. This is the reason why Chinese astrology comes into the picture. The Flying Star would help if one frequently falls sick or having `misfortune'. Dear Neil, Yes, it is very common for Feng Shui practitioners to `agree' that the front door need not necessarily be the main entrance door. It can be the garage door. However, some FS practitioners also go further to mention that if there is a discrepancy, the main door should be the one with the house number on it. Dear Daniel, In open living, ideally, (under Feng Shui conditions) there is still some `partitioning'. It may not be a full wall. It can be something like an eating or storage counter separating the cooking area from the living room. In the living room, the act of placing furniture to segregate the living room from other locations is as effective as using walls. Therefore, there is really no issue here. For an `L' shaped room even if it is an open space can effectively be segregated into two whole rectangles. This is a better FS configuration that leaving the house as an `L' shaped. Traditional Chinese Festivals are all based on dates of the Lunar Calendar. Similarly, Chinese birthdays are also based on the Lunar Calendar dates. The attached picture shows the design of: Fu - Luck Lu - Prosperity (Wealth) or God of Wealth Shou - Longevity (Health) These designs are usually found on the figures of each of these statues i.e. their clothings.

Attached are pictures of twin dragons. In picture 1, you can see the a dragon `seeding' the clouds. In certain parts of ancient China, the Chinese pray to the dragon in the hope that rain will come.

I believe the most popular tree planted in landed properties all over the island is the mango tree. From my personal observations and walk around, nearly 2 out of 5 houses plant a mango tree. It is easy to grow this tree locally.

Dear Anon, I managed to take a photo of the 'pig' on the pillar of the home. On closer look the `snout' of the pig is actually the flower of a lady figurine. She looks skywards carrying an umbrella. Sorry, on my initial look, from the front profile, it looks more like the head of a rounded pig. But it turns out to be the hair and a flower was pinned on it. Enclosed please find images of the Double Happiness associated with Chinese weddings. These are the very common designs used for such occassions. Many of us, have by now seen the Double Happiness symbol used in the previous pictures shown under this conference. Some Chinese are good at paper cutting. The outlines of these symbols can easily be cut out by someone `skilled' in this art.
