  1. This is pre-CNY (Chinese New Year) period. Took photos of this very useful guide to the names and photos of plants. Don't know who owns the chart but it seems; Giant always bring out this chart, yearly. So I guess the copyright belongs to them. Source and Credit: Location: Giant Hypermart, Tampines Ave 10; Singapore.
  2. This photo was taken in Tampines, Singapore at around 7am in the morning. These elderly ladies are practising what is known as "Tai-ji fan exercises. It is interesting to hear the group of ladies flip the fan open together. The sound is like a "thunderous sound" of a platoon of soldiers standing at an attention! Why do the wrist exercise? Based on the Five Elements concept; flexing the wrist(s) is said to help improve one's liver and gall bladder. Usually, the exercise begins with the Five-element position and there is suppose to be two sets of routines each with six different stances. Did you see some of the ladies holding a fan?
  3. I believe this is the government's first ever (Housing Development Board - a government statutory board's) foray into "condo development". This "condo" type of development has a total of three tower blocks and many do really have city views. Tower type of blocks or "point-blocks" are again a very forgiving structures. As each tower block allows air or qi to circulate in and around the entire blocks thus often; it does not sufferas much from "still" or less vibrant qi. If you take a close look at the photo image: city view5.jpg; when one steps into this development; one can see a very pleasant retro classy black and white checker-board style flooring. When we step closer to each of the blocks; it has the usual condo like card access cum intercom for added secruity. Best of all, when one steps into a unit; one could hardly be blamed for not feeling that this is but another condominium unit... And the most striking is a lovely patio balcony that can shame most of the current condominiums! Many condo units in other developments don't even have a planter or balcony; least of all such a large one... that even a full dining table fits nicely into it. And yes, some units that have a longish balcony; had two ceiling fans installed. Just imagine the size of this asset! (However, it is a waste some lower units don't have this....) One thing for sure; in a high floor e.g. 40th the views are breath-taking.. A few minutes walk to the North-East MRT line (Boon Keng Station). And yeah! The flat's not CHEAP!
  4. This ground-floor apartment is really cluttered by so many pots and plants...
  5. Erh? Which elements are out of sync... on the unfateful day of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami? Something has to take the blame! IT has to be a.....
  6. Frankly, the reason, why I wanted to see a photo is to see whether is there really a need for a bagua mirror.
  7. Frankly, this is based on plate tectonics where all the surface of earth is sitting on molten liquid and it so happens that New Zealand, is affected by two plates. These plates are like zig-saw puzzles. It occurs everywhere on our continent be it Japan; Taiwan, Indonesia; Turkey, Hawaii etc.. This is a natural occuring thing.. and scientifically, no one can yet predict earthquakes accurately; be it via scientific means; nor any other types of models. And further from the truth; scientifically; there is no correlation between say the elements and earthquake. However, indeed; someone says, IT will take the BLAME! Check out the illustration....
  8. Frankly, in my opinion; the illustration, says it all! Or does it?
  9. The altar facing is similar in nature to the stove. Thus, you should instead be standing at A facing X as the direction. As to the NE or SW, best that the altar is not located at the NE or SW sector of the home; where possible.
  10. My sincere apologies; I did open your message; closed it; open it; closed it several times; even the earlier posting.. Is it correct placement, in view of the fact that when some person enters the house, the side portion of aquarium may be visible to him? Frankly, none of the tools are used e.g. plotting the Flying Star etc... and to say whether it isa correct placement or not is like the old cases where one did not even do a "Feng Shui Triage"... sort of thing.... If the answer of point no. 1 is no, then -What if we position the aquarium in a way that person entering the house cannot see the aquarium while entering through the main door by covering the sidewall of aquarium covered with wooden panel. Is that a good solution? If with point no:2 solution the placement is not correct, then suggest where I may keep the aquarium in the living room. Seriously, you may have to use "your feelings" at this point.. or some sort of trial and error Feng Shui. Unfortunately, your questions are any body's guess for now. It is very similar to this kind of stuff.. http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Feng_Shui_Triage
  11. 1. Please refer to the attachment. 2. What we are discussing is based purely on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. And the best bed-head direction or which party e.g. Dad and Mum or Mr and Mrs sleeping positions are not discussed as this is an unknown. 3. Based purely on Shapes and Forms and the fact that a queen sized been is nothing like a single-single bed; there are already restrictions (commonsense) of the limited ways to place the bed. 4. Thus the attachment shows the most "natural" way to place the bed-head of queen-sized beds. 5. Marking in blue "A" is always reserved for things like a wardrope. As this area has low air-refresh rate - or often "stale" air area. However, if a fan is turned on in the bedroom or air-con most of the time; then there is no issue with placing the bed at this zone or area. 6. Adults would feel more natural having the bed as in the attachment. 7. I have mentioned, previously in some past forum message; that some children, may even love to sleep with the bed-head sharing the wall in marking "C". 8. Some are concerned that if a TV set is placed at location marked "D"; it may not be good if the bed-head shares this wall. For some, they may fear "radiation" or radio waves from the back panel of the TV sent with the bed especially if the tv was mounted against this same wall.Only some feel this way. Otherwise, majority of the time if we say subsribe toStarHub or Singtel MIO; we are receiving signals from wires or cables. 9. Placement of the air-con in each room. Commonsense dictate that if we were to run the trunking forthe air-con; make sure that it is not run on the same wall as a built in cabinet; else if there is some problems; the entire built in wardrope or cabinet may have to be taken out for this purpose. Air-con should also not blow directly above our head. It should best blow sideways etc... 10. Frankly, there are more; but, my fingers refused to move further.. perhaps; they are on strike?
  12. These are some considerations:- 1. Just imagine humans are not exactly homogeneous! 2. In the past, I mentioned: some of us can sleep like a pig; with mirrors all over our bedroom; but some feel very uncomfortable! 3. One of my main examples was: that in some Feng Shui books; it states that when we sleep; it is said that our spirit wakes up and if there is a mirror; it see's itself in the mirror and goes into shock! 4. I had also mentioned; what happened if the spirit is more extrovert? It likes to see itself in the mirror; to check if the hair is not in a mess. If so, the spirit would want to comb hair before flying off to meet one's friend. 5. Again it is like some of us can eat chilli padi; while some others cannot? This sort of thing. 6. Another detriment is to some people; they may be affected by; "gossips" by friends or even relatives. Just imagine; a relative steps into your bedroom and comment: Hey! your mirror is not auspicious! For some of us; it will affect these people: psychologically. 7. Thus, to many negative comments from friends or relatives; may make the person feel kinda of not so good. Even if nothing is wrong at all! 8. I must make a confession! Since the day, I bought a new home till now; I had hung a western countryside painting that has both trees and water! At my bed-head! So, how? 9. I can't be bothered by it! 10. In theory, water such as a painting of water fall is considered "yang" and not favourable in a "yin" environment. 11. In addition, plants or trees are said to be growing; thus, it is why some geomancers say, don't place a real plant or tree in a bedroom. As growth means Yang! 12. Frankly, do things for yourself or how you personally feel; not because some others tell you that it can or cannot be done! 13. God Bless all of US (other than those in North Korea or some other dictatorship) countries! 14. Here, many of us are in countries where we are "free" to think or do what we want! Why must you be scared of this or that? 15. If you really like an animal painting, go ahead! 16. There are even some fish lovers; I have seen that have a fish tank; yes, a fish tank in their bedroom for many donkey years! 17. The strange thing about human luck or human factors is that if one feels Ok about it; usually it should be OK..
  13. A. We have to understand the Holy Trinity of the (Chinese) Luck system:- 1. Heaven Luck or born with 2. Earth Luck or Feng Shui 3. Human or Man Luck factors. B. Thus, if one looks carefully, Feng Shui is only about Earth Luck and majority ofEarth Luckfactors has been covered under Part I and Part 2 of thismessage thread. C. Rather than place so much hope in FUNG SUAY or SWAY or whatever; the Human or Man Luck factors arein-fact most crucial. D. Thus, the Human factor has a higher weightage than others. Part of Part 1 and Part 2 is about hoping that we can give a conducive environment. But this is not enough! E.Thru conducive environment and giving children opportunites starting from young e.g.the library, educational tours etc... etc...
  14. We like to thank one of our forum members who had brought to my attention a certain Feng Shui Blog-site that has no regard for copy-rights. I have seen one of the links, given and this website really "cut-paste" one of my forum message. I have to see how much more infringements from this site; to see what further action need to be taken:- I have masked out our very kind forum member's information for privacy issues. === Start of Message === From:
  15. Thus, under Compass School; the Eight House concept (East / West Person); this theory is limited; either it can be done or not. It does not offer any other alternatives if you can't face a good sector nor sit in a good sector for studies. Another Compass School Feng Shui is the Flying Star:- Last month, I did a flying star chart and "blessed" under the 81 interpretations; the child's study area happens to coincide with stars that signify: (that sector) is " Good for studies" Thus, it would good if the sector is a good sector rather than bad one. Thus if a child's bedroom has say Mountain #3 Water #3; then it would not be favourable. Therefore, today's Fung Suay or Sway is not so silly as to say oh! "West" is the child's corner! This is KINDERGARTEN type of Feng Shui! Dear Me!
  16. These are some of the considerations:- 1. "West" considered as Children's corner is kinda Kindergarten type of Fung Suay. 2. Frankly, it still boils down to Feng Shui coming under two flavours:- 2.1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui (not Fung Suay) 2.1.1. Concepts such as Yin and Yang - Here, majority of the "richer" folks have a child to a bedroom. - A bedroom should have both Yin and Yang - For example the study table is often closer to the windows 2.1.2. Commonsense Feng Shui - Afternoon sun? or direct sunlight? This will definitely affect how we place the study table and bed. - Even if say a facing direction is suitable to a child's study, but if the child has to study in the afternoon; must take note of the glare from filtered light into the room / study area. It is not wise to study directly facing the sun. - If one has enough bedroom; it is felt that one of the most optimium method is to have his bed and study in the same room. Here, the child can if he choose study at the table and on occasions; lay on the bed to carry on reading ... - At the level where the study table is; open book shelfs are the best; as it would allow ease of placing the semister's books and even toys (no issue). - Each child has his /her own study table. As each child has their own habits and don't need to feel uncomfortable sharing their space where they have placed their pen, ruler etc... 2.1.2. Layout of the room - Often, when we see an empty room; most of us would have already felt or envisage where we could place a bed, wardrope and even study table. - Most of us don't feel comfortable with the bedroom door directly behind us etc... 2.2. Compass School Feng Shui:- 2.2.1 Eight House/ East or West Group person Frankly, Feng Shui under this concept is limited. For example, although it is nice to have a room e.g. bedroom or study in our good sector; sometimes, our bedroom is in another sector - no choice! For example, if this child is a east group; but if the bedroom is within SW, West or NW, what else can be done? Nothing! Again, it is nice if the bedroom is a good sector, but no matter how, if the child were to sit facing his good direction; direct sunlight (assuming, hard to redress this) and other layout considerations that makes it impossible or ridiculous to place the table this way.. what else can we do?
  17. 1.In my opinion, the lowest common denominator is the five elements concept. 2. How easy to apply a model or concept. So long as the concepts and method are sound, it is based on how easily it can be properly understood and applied. 3. Ultimately, Shapes and Forms Feng Shui is in my opinion most critical. Feng Shui cannot live without Shapes and Forms, but may survive without Flying Star and it's variant. 4. Thus in my opinion, if the concepts or models are based on Flying star, even the distant cousin nine star key belongs to this school.
  18. Finally; last Sunday morning at around 7am; finally "caught" this "uncle" again maintaining the altar at this coffee-shop in Hougang Green Shopping Centre. I now have a face to the hardworking "uncle"! For sure, he has a unique set of hair! Hmm reminds me of baby children who constantly sleeps on a pillow. That's why, most likely he shares the same traits; he could have rubbed part of his head against pillow; causing the "baldness" at certain areas!
  19. Further to what I had mentioned; 1. House hunting report is just like one module out of the whole Holistic approach to Feng Shui. 2. For example, in accountancy; even accounting softwares have different modules for different needs; and these modules are specialised e.g. Accounts Receivable; Accounts Payable;Inventory, Summary Reports: P & L etc...
  20. These are some considerations:- 1. The house hunting report is very specific and focuses only on the breadwinners best directions in-relation to two other factors: ba zi element and the bigger picture of the flying star frontage only and time dimensions: 1984 to 2003, 2004 to 2023 etc. 2. Usually for a west group person; there are naturally better homes or apartments that face other directions. This has been mentioned in the house hunting report(s). 3. The house hunting reportis useful if one is still at the house (apartment) hunting stage: comparing say apartment 1 with 2 or 3 or 4. 4. But if one is close to orat the "terminal stage"; no matter how; for whatever reasons;this tool is considered not as useful anymore. 5. Frankly, there is no perfect home or apartment. Even as a West group; NE sectors have varing intepretations based on different time periods. 5.1. But, it is always much better to get a home that is more suited to the person; and things like "brain or stomach illness" can be redressed especially if holistic approach to Feng Shui such as the Concept of maximizing overall marks in a home is one of the standard consideration. 5.2. Since there is no such thing as a perfect home, Fix-the-leak is also in the order of trying to maximize luck... 5.3. After this "terminal stage" or confirmed getting such aunit; then: if Feng Shui may / could / would be applied then other principles have to be further considered specifically:- * Feng Shui Triage * Fix-the-Leak, First! * Situational Approach(no two homes or apartment are identical) * The Concept of Maximizing Marks
  21. This cover page.. says it all...
  22. Frankly, I am very good at all words. Yawn...... A pic tells a ....
  23. Although the attached layout plans are very common for Singapore government board flats (HDB); When I first received a copy of one of them; at first glance, I thought they were the same! While, they are not exactly the same identical layout plan; as there are slight differences especially the entrance to the kitchen; but, overall, they are very similar in many ways! Can you see the differences? There are some who are concerned with the kitchen entrance visible to the main entrance door of the Bukit Panjang unit. By the way; both blocks/units TOP at thes ame time: one is in Bukit Panjang and the other at Ang Mo Kio.
  24. 1. I am unable to open the sketch. 2. For detailed problems nor what one should pay attention to is beyond this forum.
