Yearly stars and renovations
Dear Anooja, 1. In my opinion, yearly stars has to do with the `fine' tuning of a home based on Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. For example, in that year, where there is a bad #5 that flew to a specific sector (and in addition to this the 20 year star(s) has #5 or any other bad stars e.g. #2 etc... than caution has to be taken to avoid being in a situation of having too much imbalances at a specific sector. 3. Often, cures could range from using salt-water-metal jar cure to use of constant metal e.g. hanging a wind chime. This has more to do with the Grand Duke theory. Where, it is not favourable to do renovations either at: the location of Grand Duke e.g. this year is SSW and the three killings which is directly opposite this location. This has nothing to do with the renovation and cures for the sector based on Flying Star. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kenny, If your unit is marked by the red star, it seems OK to me. Since external air-flow around the entire block is acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

FS in Bukit Merah View
Dear Kenny, Glad to hear that you had finally found an apartment for your family. In general, as you had mentioned, the flats, here in particular 112 and 111 is pretty popular as resale apartments. In my opinion, there are no major issues with regards to the external Shapes and Forms for 125 since it is over-looking Henderson Park. Quite a safe purchase, indeed. Warmest Regards, Cecil

House direction
Further to what I had mentioned, because the wall behind the stove is not flat, and under certain conditions: 1. windy day 2. a window or window(s) close-by to the stove 3. open windows It may result in air-circulating behind the stove, blowing air against the flames towards the person standing at the stove. - Quite dangerous. Please see illustration.....

House direction
Dear Lena, Please see below:- I really do not know. Unless you can provide a proper sketch. This is because terms like "a bit off" is ambigious. And addition words like "entering the court of the house seems even harder to comprehen. One consideration is to tilt the main door. But this has to be looked at carefully. And also Shapes and Forms also need to be considered since there may be poison arrows or other consideration to take note of. Yes, a stove should not be placed at a corner. Most of the time, it is based more on commonsense, rather than Feng Shui. This is because, imagine a stove which is often at least 2 to 2 1/2 foot if it is placed at a corner, will mean that the `triangle' formed behind it can be relatively large. And if the kitchen is small, it will result in wasted space. Since we cannot built a small triangle cabinet behind it or place things at this corner area - for fear of becoming a fire hazard. More importantly, it is better not to place a stove at exactly the true compass directions e.g. 0 degrees, 45 degrees, 90 degrees. Since these are true - compass lines. The rationale for not placing the stove at NW or facing NW in my opinion, has to do more with the idea of: 1. Senario 1 : Flying Star Feng Shui In particular, under Period 7, NW is considered a very auspicious sector and a stove there, may burn away one's luck. And at this corner, which is the NW corner facing NW, it becomes worse since, the stove is not only located at compass direction NW, but also smack in the middle of this intangible force. 2. Senario 2 : Heaven's Gate Some FS practitioners consider NW,the Heaven's Gate. And, these practitioners say that placing a stove at the Heaven's gate is like burning the entrance! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Feng Shui of Savannah Condo Park
Dear Anon, 1. Seems like Savannah Condo Park is considered a "pet project" of CDL Properties because of it's extra emphasis of giving this condo a one-of-a-kind theme. 2. The plus point for this condo is that the highest floor is 9th (penthouse). (As compared to many others that rise higher than 20 plus floors). An advantage -here. 3. Because of the maximum 9th storey, it is acceptable for an "eye" shaped-like top-view layout plan. Since qi can still flow sufficiently all round the inner blocks. (Contrast this to the Costa Del Sol condo at East Coast. In my opinion, because of it's height - high rise - the higher the blocks, greater is the unbalanced qi for an `eye' shaped design. 4. Under this `eye' shaped-formation, there will be many different orientations to suit one's eight house chart. More importantly, see if the bedroom can be a good fit for you. 5. This shape reminds me of the Rosewood EC condo, which had recently TOP. The "U" is an inverse of this eye shape. And, there are many different orientations as opposed to just strictly a true North-South configuration. 6. In my opinion, the double-edged sword about having a theme is that hopefully, many of the animals or figurines in the development are of sufficient quality to last for the next 30 or more years. And hopefully, it takes no more to maintain in good order the "theme-park". If not, it may translate to higher maintenance or need for higher sinking-funds for the entire condo. Let's hope that the elephant tusks do not fall off etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil Based on my We How can one Apparently, most Thanks so much for

Feng Shui and LeyLines
Dear Nadine, 1. Yes, it is difficult to find topic on `ley lines' under Feng Shui. 2. This is because many locations are now no longer "virgin" land. And have been extensively surveyed. 3. As such, I believe many Feng Shui practitioners, nowadays prefer to write books that sells. Since, writing such a book - is sure to be a non-seller. 4. For the topic of `ley lines' it is best to look at the "Western counter-part" of Feng Shui. A good source or starting point is the "cousin" of Geomancy.net i.e. perhaps you should start at: http://www.geomancy.org 5. I believe, you have more success with sites like the above, than Feng Shui. 6. In my opinion, for a `novice' in Feng Shui, or for someone starting from scratch, it can be an uphill tasking in digesting and putting all the various concepts to build a home. 7. This is because, in the lucrative "Feng Shui" business, there are lots of bobby traps - i.e. some books that seems to use the word "Feng Shui" but some of these are not based on authentic Feng Shui. 8. I believe, the easiest way is perhaps, to consult a FS practitioner. Well, this is only my suggestion. But if you feel confident to go it on your own, then, I wish you all the best! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Feng Shui for the entire house
Further to what I had mentioned, a more accurate description of this concept are "These people are Interior Decorators who only come in to advise after the home has been renovated. And, often wants us to depart with our hard earned money on some useless objects. With the hope that their clients will feel nice after being conned by them."

Feng Shui for the entire house
Dear SM, OOps, you have posted this question to the wrong website. In general, often, for a normal medium or small home, it may not be feasible to sub-divide each room to be assessed via sectors. Even a 8 years old or more child can be create and if an essay question demands; write some story about each sector of a room based on "fame/reputation"; "helpful people" etc... Strictly speaking: Under the Holy Trinity of Feng Shui: Heaven Luck = Analysed from one's Ba Zi or Eight Characters Earth Luck = Truly this is based on Feng Shui - Shapes and Forms and Compass School What you had mentioned? This should be classified under "Man or Human Luck". Often, having good relationships are free. But, it is really no harm to think of the nicest things about making one comfortable by imagining that a sector is "helpful people", fame/reputation. Well, all these sounds positive - thus perhaps, for some people who may be too simplistic can feel nice about it. But what happens if the sectors are not what they sound like? For example what happens if the sector is one's 1. Instead of fame/reputation - the sector could be Scandals/Bad reputation. 2. Instead of helpful people - the sector could be unhelpful people or worse - "sure to be conned by others" 3. Under the Yin and Yang concept, for every yin, there isalways a yang and vice versa. 4. Thus for every good sectors? There is always an equal and opposite bad sector. 5. The concept that you had roughly mentioned is flawed because often, it is no point paving a sector in gold - if it is continously rotting. (Fix-the-leak, first). 6. Often, such concepts are there for a purpose: Marketing Ploy. For example, each sector is associated with certain products that can be purchased. And placed at a sector. For those owning small or even medium sized homes, such products will ultimately collect dust and clutter the home. Hmm.. not good Feng Shui in the first place. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Temporary Occupation Permit
Dear Sean, 1. It is highly unlikely that your apartment falls under Period 7. 2. This is because your unit itself; does not have the necessary fittings to `qualify' as a built under Period 7 home. For the following major reasons:- On the interior of your home ============================ 2.1 Most likely, the entire flooring e.g. floor tiles has not been laid. 2.2 Most certainly; the main door has been fixed to the apartment. Since these two activities have not been completed; it is quite `clear-cut' that if you are to apply the Flying Star Feng Shui; you should apply Period 8 to your new home. Important: Has the roof/roof tile being completed? ================================================== 3. In addition, the most important consideration is also the roof of your building. As you had mentioned, each block is still under construction. And thus, the roof (roof and roof tile - has yet to be completed). Para 3 - is the clearest indication that your new apartment block should (definitely) be considered as a Period 8 apartment. Warmest Regards, Cecil Or shall we take Eg. I can see my Thanks. Regards, Sean

Poison Arrow
Dear Anon, Attached, please find a graphical illustration of your proposed layout plan (partial). The major concern would be the flow of qi from the bedroom areas (please refer to marking 1 to 2 and vice-versa). In my opinion, it is not so much of the attached bathroom, but instead: 1. the long narrow corridor leading directly towards the master bedroom main door. 2. In terms of qi flux between the living/dining (if it is one single storey apartment) - it is not favourable with a narrow corridor (interspaced - with so many toilet(s)) Warmest Regards, Cecil We are about I would Thanks

Bedroom Lucky Corner
Dear Anon, This has more to do with "Man or Human" luck, than Feng Shui. Do what you personally feel nice about `decorating' the "lucky" corner. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, activating luck is based on finding the "lucky" number for the period and see if one can activate luck at that sector. For example, under Period 7, a house built under Period 7 can have it's luck activated with water at the water star location #7. While mountain star #7 can be activated for relationship luck. I believe, sellers of products claiming to be of Feng Shui will sell one anything that sounds - romantic or for wealth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Poison Arrow
Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for the sketch. 2. After going thru it, the attached toilet to the master bedroom seems to be acceptable i.e. the toilet door location. 3. The rationale, why, it is considered by practitioners to be unfavourable to have an attached toilet, has to do with the toilet qi. It is felt that the toilet qi should quickly be flushed away. 4. But as mentioned by you, given that the toilet bowl is not facing the toilet door, there is frankly no issue. Even if the toilet bowl does face the door, it is said that how dirty can one's toilet be. A little `dirt' especially from the flushing of the toilet bowl in one's home is acceptable. Many of us have used a public toilet and some are much dirtier. And a little of germs is acceptabl. 5. More importantly, the air-con condenser fan should not besited above the toilet door. This is because, as cold air falls to the ground, some of it may enter the toilet (even if the toilet door is closed) and this forces some pressure i.e. making the toilet region (high pressure), thus `forcing' air from the toiletto come into the room. 6. No the poison arrow you had mentioned at the corridor is a non issue since it is part of the wall extension of bedroom 3. Warmest Regards, Cecil We are about I would Thanks

Receiving a clock as a gift at company christmas p
Dear Michael, In Mandarin; gift of a clock (phonetic - sounds like) "sending one to a funeral ". Thus, many Chinese never accept a clock as a gift. As since you are not a Chinese, the main excuse is that you do not use the Chinese mandarin language and thus, is ignorant of this. I believe, this has to do more with "culture" and "culture shock" than Feng Shui. Since, one culture's practise does not necessarily mean anything bad to another culture. Thus in the west; a clock or "sounds like" does not resemble anything inauspicious - I personally feel that it should not be a major issue for another culture. Be it a western culture. For example, in some Chinese dialect group, it is a custom to make "sounds" while drinking soup e.g. from a spoon. But, in other cultures, this can be considered pretty rude. For the Chinese, if a guest (for a dinner) eats to the "last drop" or empties the dish, the host may consider that he had not provided enough to the guest. And would immediately order more food. Therefore, it is more practical to take it as "culture shock". Since, it may not need to be applied to all other race. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Confusion on changing Period 7 to Period 8
Dear Wasis, Often, replacing the roof tile (some) and cleaning the roof with change of the main door, should do it. Locally, in Singapore, we have a common term: "To be Kiasee"or literally translated from Hokkien term: " scared to die" and this means, it is no harm doing all three to make sure that it is nearly "full-proof" (fool-proof*) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Dinesh, Thank you for your photos. 1. Please see attachment 2. Given the situation, you should place a wind chime at location marked A. 3. And see if you can remove the shelving under marking B. 4. Area of wealth A scientific method is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui to activate wealth luck and relationship luck. For example, under Period 7 house, one can activate #7 water star (with water) - if the location is possible to improve on wealth. Under Period 7 also, #7 mountain star location can also be activated for relationship luck. And also try to balance all the Flying star areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil 1. what is the best area of the usa for me?
Dear Jonathan, Under the 4 good/4 bad directions concept, there is a notion that one belongs to the `east' or `west' house. But, frankly, it does not sound logical to look at region to work in. What happens if we truly take the globe. And that a person truly belongs to the `east' house? In this situation, since US is West, what happens if (a crazy practitioner of FS) recommends instead -- forgoing the US entirely (West) and ask one to go to the East? Perhaps, Far East - - like, here in Singapore. The only advantage of using this concept is to see which direction one can work (in a given room). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Drawing up my apartment
Dear Tiffani, Thank you for the sketch. 1. I have sketched the compass direction of your home in the attachment, below. I believe, based on the layout plan, the bathroom should be directly above the kitchen. This is not too bad, so long as the stove does not sit directly under the toilet bowl or toilet sewerage pipes. And try not to have a coffee table in the kitchen directly below it. 3. Check for any wealth leak from marking C to D as shown in the attachment. Warmest Regards, Cecil Thanks Tiffani On

Water feature in the bedroom
Dear Anon, Frankly, this may not be a good idea. Real water in the room, in my opinion, may harbour germs. Plus you had also mentioned dampness in the bedroom. Especially since, this water is not cleaned at all. In my opinion, I do not see a problem with a TV set in the bedroom: 1. Many of us read too many Feng Shui books `warning' us about having a tv set in the bedroom. The chief reason is: that the screen `acts' like a mirror. 2. But I have often mentioned that, this is not an issue for many people. 3. There are many people who have shifted home, or placed a tv set in their bedroom. And, do we ever hear of "Mr A moved to a new home. Placed a tv set in this bedroom. He died soon after? " 4. I do not believe anyone has died this way? More likely a couch potato may be lying on the sofa chair in the living room and perhaps died there than in the bedroom. 5. Some of the new tv sets have lcd screen or plasma screen. And one could hardly see our pearly teeth - if at all. (Even if one's teeth is not too white -- yellow) one cannot hardly see it also. 6. We are on this earth for such a short time, so why torture ourself, just because a "book" says so? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Fire and Metal Clash.
Dear Arthur, 1. In general, a Metal Rat (born say in 1960) is already 43 years old. And a Fire Horse is often 1 year younger. 2. Many years ago, the most common thing is for us to read either Chinese astrology or Western zodiac signs. 3. Many of these readings may create "auto-suggestion". What we read, we may (concious or unconciously) act out the profile. Worse still, the idea of a "self-fulfilling prohercy" 4. Contrary to what one may thing, one has to look at the destructive cycle of the five elements:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm In fact, the destructive cycle is about wealth production. 5. For example: Wood gets nurishment from the Earth and Fire produces Metal (Gold) 6. Although, Ba Zi can be futher fine-tuned, what you had mentioned i.e. You are a "Metal" person, while your wife is a "Fire" person based merely on Year of birth. (Ba Zi can further be fine tuned into looking further into the Year, Month, Day and Hour of birth to come up further with the fine-tuned elements. 7. Given this senario, in general basing on the Year of birth, one can say that "Your wife's wealth is associated with Metal element. 8. So, in a way, you can be "proud" to say that (hopefully), you have played a part in becoming the Minister without Portfolio while your wife (HAD) became your Minister of Finance. If this is true, than, one can truly say that "You are your wife's wealth:)". 9. Erh.. please don't let her see this message, else, she might just come after me:) Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil
