Human nature is such: How often do we hear many people saying that when they have problems, one way to side-track their problem is to over-eat. Some of these persons, feel that over eating can simply "wish" their problems away! 4. Thus it is a real pity that many unscrupulous sellers, use this "human weakness" to prey on us to sell us (off-load) such modern commercial products. 5. Holistic approach to Feng Shui is about : 5.1 Fixing the leak first and 5.2 Enhacement (if applicable). 6. I have drawn the illustration of a boat. Many us chose Para 3 type of solution. Thus, many of us are simply enticed to purchase a product, yet, we are not there to fix the real leaks in a home! 7. 1. Honestly, there are two schools of thoughts, with regards to what is or what is not change of period. 2. The ardent die hard says that even if all things have been changed, but so long as the entire foundations of the home was still say under Period 7. 3. In which case, using your home as an example, 1976; this group (Para 2, above) says that only if the foundations of the home has been destroyed e.g. demolished - and new foundations be laid can then home (block of apartments) is said to change the qi to Period 8. 4. Thus, for the second group, the idea that if there is a "major" renovations e.g. such as removing the roof, changing floorings, windows, main doors etc... then the "more" the changes, the more likelyhood that the home may change to Period 8. For the Chinese, some even arrange for a Lion troop to perform a Yang ceremony in addition to the renovations. In the hope that it could further bring the home closer to P8. But as we are aware, if you are living purely in Washington or some areas where non-Chinese Lion dance troop are, then too bad.. 5. So who is correct? Often an existing home would have it's history. And like a detective, and also on the practical side; one may have to draw two Flying Star charts i.e. one for the Period 7 and Period 8 and analyse the home. This is considered the most sensible approach. As this takes the equation out of which is correct: P7 or P8! 1. Yes, there is no harm in placing the wind chime even if it does not chime at all. 2. But do remember the following:- 2.1 The best wind chime are those that have 6 HOLLOW rods (different lengths) 2.2 No fancy colours or a wind chime withrainbow colours. 2.3The best wind chimes are : either 2.3.1Wood clinger and wooden roof support with6 x hollow alluminium rods 2.3.2 OR Those "Feng Shui" shops one..often they are either copper plated or bronze plated ones... That has a pagoda roofand some with a "fakeChinese ancient coin" as the "central clinger". These two are acceptable. As you can see, 2.3.2 These sold at some Feng Shui shops are very heavy i.e. heavy hollow rods and heavy or thick clinger (fake ancient coin with square hole). These type of wind chime is more SYMBOLIC and in my opinion, unless it is about to rain (high / low pressure movement) this type of wind chime will not make any noise at all. And thus, is still acceptable. Thus, in my opinion, it would be good that : first choice - noise is made. But, as you can see under Para 2.3.2 - some don't even or couldn't even make noise unless under "gale force" winds.

And logically, how is it possible for everyone to be able to obtain the exact 6 series of coins? 3. Real ones especialy a string of such emperors are rare and command a good price! 5.2 The main idea of the 6 coins, glass jar, salt water is to erode the 6 coins. Hopefully, the Feng Shui practitioner does not belong to the class of Feng Shui "Masters" that always say things like: Feng Shui Con Master: " You have to get a set of 6 coins of different era emperors" The client: "Where can I buy it?" Frankly, in my opinion, having done many (many, many) audits over the years; homes that range from "Quantum Leap" in Feng Shui to even "average" Feng Shui homes can sustain "such so called inauspicious" circumstances. Thus, honesty, the saying goes: "It depends!" No two homes are the same. Some homes (landed properties)may have the same layout, size and design but they are never on the same foundation of a plot of land. Therefore, we should be looking at each INDIVIDUAL case, for fair comment on each of them. For example, in some past forum messages, even under the Flying Star Feng Shui, if there is a cluster of "Yin" Flying Star numbers in a sector, and if this bedroom or store room is left empty, it may be a location that may attract "spirits" or "ghosts".

1. Two considerations:- 1.1. If it no longer seen, it is no longer a threat. Thus, there are many options, including drawing down fully the day curtain(s). Or installing a roller blind, or a regular blind. 1.2. Since this is a guest room, even if the windows are drawn open for a few days, minimal impact on the "guests". No problem in placing a partition so long as:- 1. It has proper support. As those free standing "collapsible" ones or those common "Chinese" 4 seasons panels should be placed with good support. Else if they are made of high quality wood (heavy) they may just fall down and especially hurt a child. 2. Avoid having a partition that has a mirror in it facing the main entrance door. 3. The partition should not "slice" a dining table opposite side of the edge of the partition.

And if you often close your main door when not in use, and if there is no direct path from the main door to a window or balcony opening, then frankly there may not be any necessity to have a partition.

1. The Flying Star concept uses the "Five Elements concept". And each Flying Star number is associated with the five elements. For example: #6 = strong metal and #5 = strong earth. 2. The 20 Year Flying Star Feng Shui In general each sector (North, South, East, West...) etc has three numbers; MS# W# B# (Mountain, Water, Base or Palace star). 3. When applying the Flying star, one should be looking strictly on the Flying Star numbers. Thus even in the West sector, if there is a double #8 then the rule of Flying Star applies that if this is the frontage a "proper water" position can be considered. 4. For simplicity, can understand that strictly North = Water, East = Wood, West = Metal. But like you are trying to figure out? How do you co-relate this with the Flying Star! In general this is a very general theory! 5. If you have Flying Star chart and the west has flying star numbers then one should analyse it strictly from the Flying Star perspective! 6. For the more experienced, in fact, the other consideration is the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 7. In the past, many Feng Shui practitioners are like what you understand North = water, East = wood. And when the practitioner advise their client: they would "insist" that their client place a water feature at North (career and water position). This is KINDERGARTEN Feng Shui! Outdated! 8. If we really want to mix Compass School (Flying Star) with Shapes and Forms, then we may try to take note that West is the "white tiger" location. And it would be disadvantage to symbollically have a water feature IN THE SHAPE of a well (circular) as it is symbolic of a tiger's hungry mouth! That's All. If you read carefully a water feature (based on Flying Star Feng Shui can be used here) except trying to have an oval shaped water feature! 9. Your question is akin to bringing in VERY GENERAL concepts like West is metal. And then suddenly mixing this with Flying Star numbers like #8's. Really no common denominator. 10. Best not to turn reasonable Feng Shui concepts into some kind of a weird experiement or into some kind of a "rocket science".

In GENERAL, under Period 8, it is highly good chance that a water feature at South-West can benefit "most" people as this is generally an "indirect-water" wealth spirit location especially if it is a balcony or patio area. 2. As mentioned in my earlier, message on your earlier question, we are talking about the Feng Shui of your home (earth luck). 3. Under the Chinese holistic approach to luck, there are three kinds of luck:- 3.1 Heaven Luck (what one is born with) and analysed via Ba Zi 3.2 Earth Luck (Your home, office, business or place of stay/rent) 3.3 Human or man luck (Relationships, family bonding etc...) and many also get conned thru"Bull-shit = buying of commercial products" 4. Thus, a water feature under Para 1, above is to boost the earth luck. Therefore if you can draw the line between your bazi which is Heaven luck! Your home is your earth luck. 5. So, a water feature at the correct location is suppose to boost your earth luck. And in this example, it is clearly different from one's Heaven Luck (ba zi). Is this clear?

1. Everyone has his/her ba zi or "birth chart". A home also has it's own "birth chart". 2. Under the Compass School of Feng Shui: a home's ba zi (birth chart) is based on the Flying Star Feng Shui. Where e.g. what is the birth date of the home? And in addition it's specific direction. Thus a home can be a Period 8, North-West 1 home. 3. So long as one can properly identify where is the water wealth sector of a home, we can than "safely" place a water feature in (inside) the home. 4. Thus, decision made under Para 3; is made first, without consulting or checking to see if the owner (breadwinner)'s elements are suited or not. 5. Thus under Para 3, the breadwinner or spouse can be a weak fire, or strong water person and BECAUSE a specific (appropirate location such as the balcony) may have water star #8, then the house's birth chart prevails over (your) (our) own ba zi element or whether we are of a fire element etc... 6. This is usually the method used. 7. But, if one is not sure where one's water wealth location is or placed a water feature wrongly; and also if one cannot "take" water then, it may get ugly! 8. Usually, for an individual: best to use an accurate "ba zi" analysis to determine whether one is e.g. weak water or strong water or weak fire or strong fire. 9. Thus to recap, even if one is a weak fire person, but if the water position is placed in a very auspicious sector in the home (home's birth chart), this is acceptable as the advantage of having water can boost the home's earth luck (Feng Shui). 10. But if one is a weak fire person and worse still : based on the home's (flying star - birth chart), the sector that one is going to place a water feature happens to be a Mountain star #8 then placing a water feature may inadvertently drown the "lucky mountain star #8. 11. In a few recent messages, I had mentioned that for example if a person has 4 counts of water e.g. 39 percent, wood 5 counts at 40 percent.. it is more a Chinese thing. As usually the father or grandfather seeking advice from a geomancer to "give" a good name for the child to balance his five or lack of the five elements.

Currently, as we are under Period 8, in general, the rule of thumb is that it is advantages to activate a water feature (especially the frontage) of the home if there is a combination of the very auspicious double #8's. 2. Thus, whatever argument is indicated, a proper water feature, can be activated (especially if it has all the five elements) in it. Plus the fact that under Period 8, anything to do with #8 has a significant advantage. 4. Thus because of the "kindergarten" explanation (below), it will cause confusion and less convincing way of describing it. 1. In my opinion, technically, all the arguments are logical. 2. Majority of the time, below the staircase (or same spot) as the staircase, many contruct a store room. And this can help to "lock up the bad stars". In addition, it is always better not to have a bedroom or living area with really bad stars vs that of the staircase. 3. It is known fact that if possible, the stairs are covered (top and side). 4. As for wooden staircase, concrete, metal, all these can be based on the Five elements concept - if it does not have an impact of the building code, no issue. 5. Many homes with flaws such as corkscrew staircases etc.. may not necessarily give it a disadvantage. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, #9 represents the fire element. And fire inflames #2 (bad - weak - earth) and #5 (bad strong earth) elements. Not exactly the kind of cure one should intend to apply to these two bad earth stars. Maybe, just maybe for #3 (bad wood). In my opinion, therefore, it is not the normal convention to apply 9 coins for #2 and/or #5. However, as Flying Star analysis takes into account the 81 combinations of the Mountain and Water Stars, then in some cases, it may be used.

1. In my opinon, the professional method based on the Compass School of Feng Shui is that you should consider applying Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, in general, you should check whether where is the Mountain Star #8. And hopefully, this is in an appropriate location. 3. For example, it would be coincidentally good if both this location with the Mountain Star #8 is also say, the e..g the balcony or living room area. If your knowledge of Flying star is acceptable, then a water feature may be acceptable to be placed at locations that have bad #5 (misfortune or sickness). 4. Other than the above compass school of Feng Shui, check where is the South-West (known as the indirect water wealth sector). If it is at the balcony, for example, it MAY be considered. (Usually, Flying Star is also used to check to ensure that this sector has favourable Flying Star. 5. If the above sounds "Greek" and if you want to DIY, you have to really put in much effort to study the Flying Star etc... Or get yourself a competent FS professional. 6. Please note that water position that is placed at a wrong location can affect either or both wealth and or relationshops. 7. Alternatively, someone suddenly wakes up and say " Hey! I don't seem to want to look at Feng Shui for advice on placing the water feature..." Here, do as what many had done for centuries... by own intuition.
