Bedroom Questions
Dear Trish, Frankly, without a sketch, it is quite difficult to figure out your exact room layout plan. Firstly, what are you trying to achieve. From your second last paragraph, you mentioned that pointing west is good for you. However, does it look not only feasible but "comfortable" for you. In other positions are you trying to avoid aiming your foot towards the bathroom door? Generally, if there are no other better placements, this is quite acceptable. Most of the time, to be honest there are limited configurations for placing the bed /bed-head. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Trish Perry wrote: My question has to do with bed positioning. My bedroom is the master bedroom and there is no way for me to put my bed that it won't be in a wrong position. Three of the walls are slanted, and the one I have the bed against now is a straight wall, butthe angle of the foot of the bed is toward my bathroom door and my closet door. The bed isn't directly in front of these doors, but the end of thebed forms an angle to them both. The only wall that may be possible at all, is the wall that contains the bedroom door on it but that is a slanted wall and is also the wall that separates the bedroom from the living room. The bed would then point directly West which is very good for me, and there would be no angle to any other doors in the room. What should I do?

New job during seven month
Dear Tan, Congratulations on your new job! Unlike the case where it is considered inauspicious to moving-in; frankly, there is no major issue selecting a date to start-work. However, feel free to use our free auspicious date report to check auspicious dates for the next 30 days:- http://date.geomancy.net Warmest Regards, Cecil

Initial opening of door
Dear Anon, A. In addition to Para 8, please see below:- 8) In addition, at the KITCHEN, place FA GAO x1 and ORANGES x3 on the stove. - with an ang pow with 20cents or 2 dollars or even number notes/coins will do. - Do not sweep the floor on the three days of placement. For example, if placed on Saturday, only sweep the floor after Monday i.e. from next Tuesday onwards ONLY. - After this date, all the ang pow money can be used to purchase sweets or sweet-drinks for own family consumption. B. In many instances - for homes especially many Housing Board flats that come "bare" without living room floor tiles done; i.e. only cement screeding; most likely after three days, often the fruits "may not be fit" for consumption. In such a case, it is best to get a disposable rubbish bag and throw the entire "offerings" e.g. fruits, grown-green beans away. For homes that have been completed e.g. most condos, newly completed terrace homes etc... often, it is OK to throw away all these offerings after the 3rd day. Especially true, if there are ants, roaches, lizards that had touched the food. We never know. Thus ideally, throw these offerings away. We don't want to fall sick, do we? Note: Avoid giving any of the "offerings" or fruits to contractors or contractor's workers. This is like giving some of our wealth away. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I readyour procedure on 'getting key-initial opening of door'. I'm just wanna know what's wehave todo with the fruits, fagaoand especially the green beans that left to grow after the 3 days? Do we need to wait till the green beans grow?

Feng Shui and Platform Beds: A Good Understanding based on Pure Common Sense
Dear Paula, In my opinion, from a Feng Shui point of view the use of platform bed has more to do with "Commonsense Approach to Feng Shui". In fact, it is literally - Commonsense under Feng Shui:- 1. Is sleeping on a platform, bad under Feng Shui? In many parts of the world, many people do sleep either on the floor or on a platform. In particular, the Japanese, for example sleep on the floor which is quite similar to sleeping on a "platform" or flat-bed. Thus, generally there are no issues here since nearly a very high percentage of the Japanese population sleep on a flat-bed. Besides this "rich" country many less well to do countries also have citizens sleeping on flat-bed. 2. I was told that we must sleep on a raised bed so that qi can circulate under our bed? Is this true? This has more to do with "commonsense" then Feng Shui. One good thing about a raised bed or a bed with e.g. 4 legs is that we can easily clean below the bed. Nowadays with lots of nasty virus or issues with them; it would be nice if we have the opportunity to be able to clean below ourbed. This will avoid or eliminate dust mites and other forms of virus. Imagine having a platform bed. Most platforms are fixed and cannot easily be removed for cleaning. And if there are small gaps in the wood or say we shed our skin etc.. and these fall below into the bottom of the platform, we may not be able to clean them. Thus there may be a host of mites e.g. dust mites and other insects, crawing all over below the untouchable (below our bed). Thus, as one can see, there can be an issue with having a platform in the long term. Even more so, if we carpet the platform. It is so much harder to maintain the carpeting or ensuring again no dust mites etc... crawling all over the platform. Worse if we have young children. They can or may urinate orthey could seep thru the bed into the bottom of the platform which is out of reach. Childrenmay also eat sweets, spill drinks etc.. Thus, if we have simply a four legged bed, it is much more practical, should we want to ensure that the room is clean. Warmest Regards, Cecil

House Location
Dear Anon, Frankly, the situation you face is very common for many of us. As Feng Shui is not based on just one concept, alone. Thus, in order to have a more balanced view of how well your home "perform". Under Feng Shui, try as much as you can to use a holistic approach to find out the "health" of the home. For example, how is the "Shapes and Forms" like for your home. How can you benefit from Flying Star of your home etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hello, I just recently purchased a home. I did an eight house analysis on myself. It turns out that, even though the entrance more or less faces an ideal cardinal point, my bedroom is right in between the death and disaster zones. Are there any remedies to alleviate the effects of these inaspicious corners? Thanks

Placement of Menu light box
Dear Anon, 1. If possible, you can follow the sample format, attached. For a signage, it is best to go for length i.e. odd number and for the width even numbers. As odd number represent yang while even number represents yin. Thus such a signage is considered, balanced i.e. yin and yang in harmony. For example if you use cm, then length can be89cm while width can be 42 cm. Alternatively if you use inches then lenght can be59 inches while width can be 28 inches etc.. Quote: Anonymous wrote: I intend to place 2 thin menu light boxes (similar totwo 24" LCD monitors) hanging down from the frontage ceiling, lowered to just above a normal person's head. There is a gap (about 10cm) between the menu light boxes. So the staffs will be standing behind the menu. From what I can see, there is no major issues with such a light box. In fact, in my opinion, it seems quite a good idea. When you mention that the staffs will be standing behind the menu, do you mean that literally, the staff standing below each menu will serve that specific food? Or both can serve the combined set of both menu food? This is the only sticking point that perhapsmay lead to confusion if you do not intend to serve different food. And perhaps a KFC type of menu could be better, here? Quote: Anonymous wrote: Also, should I place the cash register in the middle or against the left wall (which is not the same side as the swinging door)? As for the cash register, usually a Feng Shui assessment can often determine the best location for it. However, in your case, it is best to check the operational work-flow. Whether the cash register is in the middle (operational ease?) or security? (against the left wall) is best to be decided as mentioned on the work flow of how your staff are going to serve/ operate. Best of luck! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Health
Dear Tanja, In my opinion, the best trouble-shoot is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui. Most likely certain sectors of your home is affected by one or a combination of any of these "sickness" stars:- #5 misfortune /sickness #2 sickness and often "severe" health issues could be attributed to the addition of #9 to any one or both or a combination of these stars e.g. #5 with #5 with #9 = very, very bad health issues #5 with #9 = equally very, very bad health issues and the severity of health issues can come from any combinations or singular #5, #2 and or #9. In particulars watch out for these stars particularly in any bedrooms and/or frontage of the home or living room areas. In many cases, avoid BRIGHT YELLOW (#5 , #2) and BRIGHT RED (#9) under sectors that have these stars. Renovation during Second 7th Month
Dear Eric, Frankly, if there is a double 7th month, often if someone is celebrating their lunar birthday; then the 1st 7th month is considered their birthday. Given that you have a constrain, here i.e. delay if renovations do not start, then, for practical reasons, you may carry out your renovations. But during the renovation period, avoid or try not to visit the home frequently especially to spent time to eat - sleep or eat - bathe or bathe-eat, there. Avoid performing a "supervisory" role during the 7th month when renovations are carried out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Next to T-junction House Query
Dear Yew Heng, In general, it sounds, OK. However, some of the key factors include: 1. If one stands in-side the home looking outwards, is there any lamp post, or a tree trunk facing the mainentrance or windows of the home. 2. Where possible, the plot of land is rectangular/squarish in shape. 3. Sewerage pipes / conduits running into the home 4. Drainage locations. Ideally should not cut into the side of the home etc.. how to cure fire in the heaven gate combination
Dear Joel, You mentioned that " only south sector is good for main door". Does it mean that your home has not been constructed, yet? ForSW2, P8 South sector:- MS#6 (metal) WS#9 (fire) Base#3 (wood) Given that there is a bad wood #3 under this sector, you should avoid enhancing WS#9 which as you had mentioned is "fire-at-heaven's gate". Thus the most effective cure is to use water e.g. colours like Blue, black or grey to neutralise it rather than enhancing the #9! Alternatively, earth can be used to reduce the bad influence of wood #3 fuelling fire #9. Earth (e.g. boulders) can help. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Joel Tee wrote: my house facing SW2, period 8 house, in the 3 front sector, only south sector is good for main door i think , but its a MS 6 and WS 9 combination which make up fire in the heaven gate. how can iactiveaupicious star 9 and at the same time suppress the fire in the heaven influence?? thanks

Neighbour Pakua [Ba Gua] Mirror facing our main door
Dear Anon, Can you check and feed-back further: i.e. what type of ba gua mirror did your neighbour place above their main door: Key features of the ba gua mirror: 1. Is there a mirror on the ba gua mirror? Yes/No 2. If so, is the mirror flat / concave or convex? Concave/ Convex 3. Is it purely a single mirror or on the exterior there are outer rings of the ba gua eight tigram? 4. Other ba guas e.g. with qi ling or "lion head" or with guardians of two door gods? Any other figurines (or pair of figurines) aimed at your home. Any yellow charms above their door? For info, usually a convex mirror is to deflect sha qi. A concave mirror is to "suck" wealth. For example, placed facing outwardstowardsa missing corner (where the home has a missing corner) Warmest Regards, Cecil

buddha
Dear Anon, In Asia, in my opinion, the most popular set of display figurines has got to be the "Fu Lu Shou" set of threefigurines.Either in a set or lettering. Before the popularity of the laughing buddha or buddha figurines; the above can be found in many "well-to-do"Chinese homes as early as 1960's. They are in-fact very popular right up today. The "Fu Lu Shou" figurines do not have any religious connotationsbut simply many Chinese love to display this set of three wise persons. As mentioned as one of the most popular display items of any Chinese homes. Thesethree figurines comes in many sizes, large, medium and small. They come in all sorts of material from gold, silver plated to ceramics, jade, wood or other materials. Locally, many modern Chinese or in Singapore; in my opinion, very few "English" educated Chinese display the laughing buddha in their homes. I foundin particular, many Chinese educated Singaporeans and many live in three or four room Housing board apartments love to display it facing their door! As mentioned, most likely, the Englisheducated Singaporeans, felt that the "laughing buddha" is more associated withthe buddhist "religion"and thus perhaps not as popular as the "neutral" Fu Lu Shou figurines. Frankly, there is no harm in buying onemerely as a display. And certainly nottopray to. I believe, the smileof the laughing buddha is suppose or perhaps make some people -- erh.. happy...hmm.. For the Chinese, for those who buy a figurine to pray e.g. such as theGoddness of Mercy is a very common thing forsome Singapore Chinese couples. Usually, a geomancer often recommends the type of material that the couple should purchase: For example, if the breadwinner is a weak wood person then recommended to purchasesaythe Goddness of Mercy made of wood.If the breadwinner is considered as a weak water person, then perhaps, the geomancer would recommend a gold or plain white goddness of mercy. As gold or white represents the metal element. Thus metal supports a "weak water" person. Here, no matter what theory is used, Chinese traditional analysis always has much to do with the Five Elements concept:-http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm So don't worry, if you like it (decoration or the "feel-nice-factor") just get it! Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Is it true?. because I always believed Laughing Buddha means presence of something good, pure at your place and so its good for every one

period 7 house
Dear Patricia, Yes, in particular, even if your home has a combination of ten, it is good to review the layout plan to see if the home could or could not benefit from a change of Period. For example, as you had mentioned theparticular concern iswhcih part of the home the north #7's fall into. If this is the living room or activityarea orroom, then, one may seriously have to consider "flying" toperiod 8.Again, you need to study the Period 8 chartto see if the layout plan is suitable for activating double auspicous #8 at the South sector as well as other good sectors like SW and West. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: I live in a south 2 period 7 house in all rooms there is the auspicious 10 combo however in the north sector there is 2 sevens in mountain and water stars . Is this cause for concern, now that we are in period 8? Do I enhance the good and let the 10 vibration counteract the bad stars or doI need more help?

Is this house facing T-junction?
Dear Mr Yong, To be honest, once you have already bought the home, it is best to concentrate to make it Feng Shui friendly. Overall, inmany instances of a`T` junction senario, often, cars should be seen as moving towards the home. And when it does, vulnerable parts of the home e.g. the main door or windows are at the "receiving" end of this sha qi. If say your plot of land is seen as at a `T` junction; but if the home that was built on this plot of land is away from this `T' junction in particular the main door e.g. is on the side of the home or windows not directly facing the `T' junction, then the developer/designer/owner had made a good job of building the home negating this `T' junction. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: ML Yong wrote: We bought a house (facing south) whichis situated at the end ofa t-junction whereonly the right hand (southwest) side of the housefaces the t-junction where cars aremoving away from the house. However, we could see the t-junction especially the southwest side which is facing the road where cars are moving away from the house. The t-junction road is mainly used by residents of the housing estate. Is this house considered facing t-junction?

Water Element Enhancer
Dear Andy, In the past, no one has ever heard of such a thing or even products using the Feng Shui name. For example, nowadays, many are ripping off others by using terms like "Feng Shui jewelery". It's the blackhole effect. What happens is that if we purchase such products, our pocket(s) will have a huge deep dark hole. And mostly, the seller benefits from this sale! For many Chinese, let's imagine or go back to our grand-parent's time or for many, our parents home. There are no such things prior to 1970's as Feng Shui crystals nor is it common place to find three-legged toads. In the past, it is widely common to find more popular stones such as jade and diamonds. But, things like blue gems is not particularly popular with the Chinese. As you had mentioned, buy it for only for one's "Feel-good-factor" only! Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Andy Dai wrote: I have this queries abt stones or gems that helps to activate element. Dear Anon, Frankly, you are not alone. There are thousands and in-fact millions of people who bought homes prior-to or never even heard of Feng Shui. Or had bought their dream-home prior to consulting which is their suitable directions etc... In order to apply Feng Shui, it is best to go more on a holistic approach. As there are many (many variables) not just "one-wrong" point and oops! We are done for! For example, in many instances, even if a home does not suit us but some homes may have "superior" external shapes and forms. In addition, under Flying Star Feng Shui for the current period "Period 8" - in general; NE homes are suppose to or can benefit from good Feng Shui qi. Toilet at North-East Sector
Dear Anon, Typically, there are numerous factors to consider beyond merely visualizing one's Ba Chai (Eight House) Feng Shui. The Eight House Theory is relatively fixed, and the essential aspect of this theory is: How appropriate the house is for the breadwinner. It is more related to the time spent in a sector and the optimal facing direction of the bed-head and the study/work area. The Key success factor in Feng Shui is to understand and apply the 12 Habits of Feng Shui as follows:- Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: My house has 2 toilets in the north-east sector which is considered my "Excellent" direction. Dear Georgy, #8 = current prosperity and appears as the base (or palace star #8) #1 = future, future prosperity water element ON Mountain star AND #6 = strong metal Thus, #6 strengths the mountain star #1 (future, future prosperity). Moles at the back of body
Dear Anon, In my opinion, it more to do with either: a. "old folks-tale" and /or b. may affect some of us psychologically. c. health wise a. Old folks-tale Many of us would find it reasonable to hear old tales or belief that carring a mole at the back of our body is considered like "carrying" a burden. Sounds resonable, rite? b. Psychology or feel-good-feel-bad Small things like these may affect some people's confidence level and affect their mind-health c. Health reasons Hopefully not but sometimes they could be cancerous or start of a tumour Frankly, there is no right or wrong in this case. kitchen in sw corner
Dear Anon, Frankly, there are many interpretations of kitchen in the "wrong" sector. Under Traditional Feng Shui, the major concern is the Kitchen and in particularly the stove at NW sector. NW is suppose to be the Heaven's gate. And under Traditional Feng Shui, it also reflects the head of the household. And when a stove is located at NW, then it is commonly called "fire-at-heaven's" gate. However, some modern Feng Shui practitioners call the SW sector the romance sector. I believe, this is what you are concerned with. As for SW = romance sector, this is usually not a key issue under Traditional Feng Shui practitioners. As mentioned, this is considered more of a "modern" invention or modern concern. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hello. We just moved into a new apartment. Unfortunately, the kitchen is an open kitchen in the southwest corner of the apartment, and I heard this was very bad. It is not totally enclosed either. Qn on good bad directions?
Dear Tatjana, Welcome! Frankly, it is very common for many to sleep in a bad sector of their home. This being that the Eight House Theory is based on 50-50 percent i.e. East or West group. Thus in general, 50 percent of the time; or one out of two persons may be sleeping in either a good or bad sector depending on the degree of unsuitability. What is more important, is that what you had analysed is considered only the "tip-of-the-iceburg".. It is better to practise Holistic Feng Shui if one wants to better understand the situation or influence of Feng Shui. In order to be more meaningful; it is best not to look at this one situation in isolation. Thus, since you are new, the idea here to learn or find out more about good and bad Feng Shui. Broadly, you should find out more about Shapes andForms Feng Shui;Five Elements Concept etc... The idea, here is to build a bigger picture ofthe Feng Shui of your home. The bigger the picture, the better. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Tatjana Hatten wrote: Hi I am new to feng shui and have a question on good and bad directions. How to create harmony for front garden?
Dear Trudy, Frankly, there is no hard and fast rule in garden design. Even for gardening, there are many factors involved: 1. plot size 2. weather conditions: Tropics / Four Seasons 3. owner's preferences The type of trees /plants or shrubs would depend on the country we are all in. In Singapore, especially in the 1970's, it is very common for many landed properties to grow a mango tree in one's compound. In many instances, the mango tree (depending on the garden area) is often planted at the corner of one's garden either at the front-of-the-home or at the back. When this tree is often around 10 to 15 years old, they can be as tall as 3 storey's high and leave quite a large "dark" footprint below the tree, because of it's thick foliage. Good or bad depending on the location. Good as it helps shade homes that directly face the afternoon sun. Bad if the home is north-south facing - as it affects the amount of light entering such a home. In many instances,a well trimmed or properly maintained garden need not have"jungle" like plants or trees. It (the garden) should be appealing to the us. If not sure, go for moderation or get a respectable company (professionals) to help design your dream garden! Usually, theywill putup proposals or show some samples of their work and also recommend some "hardy - reliable" plants/trees that suit your country. Interms of Feng Shui, some use cactus but often this is placed "strategically" at corners or vulnerable locations where someonecan easily climb into the home. - Especially for those who stay ina fenced up home. But inmost parts of America, it seems such full fencing is quite rare.. Warmest Regards, Cecil

My Birth Element is a Weak Water. - can I do this?
Dear Ghee Heng, 1. Under the Chinese Holy Trinity of Luck, you have mentioned that your HeavenLuck or ba zi (birth element) is that you are considered a "weak water" person. 2. Overall, there are three kinds of luck:- Heaven Luck = what one is born with Earth Luck = Feng Shui of home and office Human or Man Luck = Relationships, family Thus, even if one is considered a "weak water", in general, we may consider a water position in the home. But since we cannot live in isolation i.e. we have our personal ba zi; the home also has it's personal ba zi element. If you want to place a water feature in the home: be it a water feature or fish tank, then, try to draw out a birth chart of the home (Feng Shui) using the Flying Star Feng Shui. In general, Do look out for the following flying star numbers:- Water Star #8 (Current prosperity)= if say the North sector contains a water star #8, then, placing a water feature in such a sector would benefit you greatly as your "weath can be activated". #9(Future prosperity). As #9 represents fire element on it's own, it is not wise to place a water feature at this sector. If there is no bad stars #5 or #2 in this sector, such a water feature, would drown your "future prosperity". #1 (Future, future, prosperity). In general if there is a water star #1 in the sector, then it can benefit froma water feature, here. In addition:- Mountain star #8 - In general, should north sector has only this mountain star #8, it should be activated with a mountain. But, if a water feature is used, it may drown your wealth luck. It is like we are "drowning the mountain with water!" Please note that the above is for illustration only. Therefore, the main qualification is that I had mentioned "in general". Under real world conditions, we need to see the interaction of Mountain starwith Water star with base (Palace star). Warmest Regards, Cecil
