Dear Anon, 1. Please see attachment of the site-plan of Housing Development Board (HDB) Stratmore Avenue. 2. Units that are marked in YELLOW and especially high floors can be bathed by afternoon sun. For examples, unit such as 221, 223, 231, 233 etc.. 3. Thus, in my opinion, not the best units to buy, here. Of course, there are other units especially high floors that are at high floors such197, 207 will also get partial afternoon sun. 4. Best if not sure, do visit the units (under appointment) on a sunny hot day at around 5pm. 5. As mentioned, previously, why avoid such units? The issue, here is that in many cases, the interior walls e.g. masterbedroom has soaked in the hot afternoon heat. And even at 7 or 8pm, the heat "releases" into the bedroom ... making sleep or rest unbearable. Thus a simple turn on a fan may not be adequate. Most likely need to turn on the air-con. 6. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, the entire HDB Strathmore should be considered a Period 8 site. Thus, under Period 8, it is more advantages to purchase a Period 8, South 2 (172.5 to 187.4 degrees) facing direction apartment especially at high floors to take advantage of double auspicious #8 stars! 7. Thus generally, North 2 facing does not have as fantastic flying star chart as a Period 8, South 2 facing. (As many of the apartments are either N2 or S2 facing). 8. Generally, east facing apartments are not as bad as west. Since usually the sun rises and bathes heat from 9.30am to 12noon. And afterwards, no issue, in the evening. Dear Soh Hoon, 1. Double-decker beds have been around for many years. Even as far back as in 1930's. Especially in school domitories and army camps. 2. Many pre-university / university students had stayed in hostels and have since graduated, married and many also had become grandfathers! 3. Unlike a beam above one's head, a double decker bed is a flat panel and not a beam. 4. In Singapore especially in the 1960's double-decker beds were also popular as homes are equally as small as those in Hong Kong. Nowadays, many people only have one or two children and thus, less "dependant" on double-decker beds. Thus in my opinion, using a double-decker bed is a non-issue. Dear Anon, It is best to get professional help or for those who know how to draw a proper Flying Star chart; should check for #3. Usually, if star #3 is present in e.g. the master bedroom, then there can be substantial number of quarrels for the husband and wife. Dear Anon, As mentioned in the procedure: 1. It is best to leave the sprinkled rice and green beans for three days. And afterwards, no issue to sweep them away and the remainder - wash the floor. 2. Thus, for example if today is a Wednesday i.e. on a Wednesday we had sprinkled rice and green beans then we should not wash or clean or sweep them after Friday. Thus on Saturday onwards we can sweep the floor. 3. For those who purchased a new housing board flat with just cement screening then... we may not need to remove the rice and green beans as later on, this small amount may be cement screeded and tiles laid on top of it. 4. The above procedure was fine tuned. As for info, previously some Chinese do sprinkle an addition of tea leaves and salt! BUT WAIT! For those who have purchased a home that has especially mable floor ing laid and parquet wood tiles.. it may be hazardous to sprinkle tea leaves as if the leaves were stained by water.. it may leave very nastly tea leave stains on the floor! Dear Anon, Frankly, there is no hard-or-fast rule, here. The procedure that you had done is non-religious and if we disect it; the procedure is about placing wealth into our homes. In Singapore, majority Chinese dialect group is made up of Hokkien (from Fujian provicince) approx 22 percent of all Chinese in Singapore. Thus it is common practise to roll in a pineapple and buy fa gao. Teochews also have nearly this procedure. Other procedures include the placement of fruits four corners and centre has more to do with the Cantonese dialect group where the Cantonese are concerned with the 5 spirits of the home e.g. 4 corner spirits of North, South, East, West and Centre spirits or the 5 spirits. Coming back to your question: In Singapore, there are different state of renovation/ non-renovated homes. For example, even in a HDB or housing board flat, we have new uncompleted flats where flooring is not done, yet to premium flats and condos or resale flats where often the floor tiles are done up. Thus, often, if your home is totally uncompleted e.g. the living room and bedroom floor is simply cement screening with lots of dust on the floor then naturally, one may not want to wash the fruits (after three days) of placement and eat them. Thus, the natural thing is to throw them and the fa gao away. Sometimes, we have ants, and other insects e.g. cockroaches crawing on the floor and for hygene purposes, we have no choice but to throw the fruits away! For some homes e.g. condos, where the floor is clean and fruits laided out... and if some of the fruits are still in good condition, why not or no issue in eating them later. Thus, as mentioned above, once the ritual has been performed, there is no hard and fast rule as what to do with the fruits there after. If possible, do not give them away. As it is not a matter of being selfish but rather, giving them away is like giving away wealth! Thus no choice, best to throw them away. Where it was reported that there were higher incidences of cancer for those who place their bed above a sewerage pipe. In your case, hopefully, the toilet bowl shares another wall (other than with your bed head). If so, so long as the toilet bowl does not share the same wall as your bed-head this is often fine. Dear Anon, In general, you have mentioned that your interior of your apartment has been changed to a Period 8 apartment. But your exterior is still considered a Period 7 block. Ideally, of course that the exterior of the building gets a good new coat of paint. And often, many blocks should have been painted by the 5th or 6th or at least the 7th year that it is in. If so, there is no issue since your home (block and apartment) have at least a new coat of paint). The other senario is to do a proper Flying Star chart. As flying star chart looks at the frontage: it is good that also often, the home should not be stuffy and if possible, the whole home should be well ventilated. This is to encourage qi into the home. So in terms of Feng Shui for a condo: The Centris; if we consider an individual unit vs other units, then there are always some units that may have superior Feng Shui vs other units. Thus, a recent post asking how is the Raintree condo, again, usually in each plot of land there are invariably good or not so favourable units. As mentioned previously, all homes may or may not be affected by the "hot" afternoon sun; Your question relates more to the "marketability" and whether your unit can become an asset or end up as a loss. Thus in terms of good marketability, as you had mentioned, factors like The Centris is located next /close to MRT and shopping mall usually can be a plus especially for those who do not own a car. In the past, 99 leasehold condos were sold at crazy prices e.g. $600 p.s.f. or more. And nowadays, these property prices have almost halfed! While 2. mountain stars, is best activated in an enclosed environment or "blocked" by a mountain. However, when we talk of the above, we are "anticipating" or have a view that what we are trying to activate are good stars like for water stars: #1 and #8. Dear Anon, 1. There are two "angles" to look at the case where often, from the master-bedroom, we may see the toilet (toilet bowl). 2. In many apartments; be it a condominium or an HDB (government housing development board apartment or flat); in fact all master bedrooms have a detached-toilet. In some instances, we do not get to see the toilet as it may be closer to the bedroom door. 3. As mentioned under Para 1; there are two ways of looking at the "issue" or non-issue with the toilet:- 4. From a Shapes and Form point of view 4a. As you have mentioned, some people may feel uncomfortable seeing the toilet (toilet bowl) from their master-bed. Frankly, there is not much choice, here. Other than to close the toilet door. Or some clients built a walk-in-wardrope and include the toilet within it. Thus, roughly it is like out-of-sight out-of-mind. 4b. What is it that make us feel that toilet qi is bad? 5. Frankly, your questions are piecemeal and without relevance to proper Feng Shui diagnostic tools like Flying Star Feng Shui. Thus things like bamboo tree (real or fake) can be a double edged sword. As some sectors may not be suitable for such a cluster of plants. If the beam is made of wood, then based on the destructive cycle of the Five Elements concept: metal destroys or neutralises wood and seven represents = metal element (weak metal) and silver represents metal element. Dear Samsiah, Usually, to analyse the entire apartment complex then, it would probably have to be the front door (facing the neighbour's front gate). But if you are trying to analyse your apartment, then; for high floors or high storeys 8th storey and above, then it is often the frontage of the apartment or often the living room area or the facing direction where you have the most windows and/or balcony. If your apartment is often 7th storey and below, then often, it should be the main entrance to your unit. Dear Lawerence, Yes, your observations are correct. This is because, especially in a home, the location that has both water and fire element is the kitchen area. And there are many considerations, when water and fire is close-by! For example: 1. Compass School Feng Shui Many practitioners who apply the Compass School of Feng Shui is very much concerned with "Fire at Heaven's" gate. And under this concept, it is very bad luck to have the stove placed at this specific location e.g. NW sector of the home. And when analysing Flying Star numbers, some combination of Flying Stars may be very bad for stove placement. For example, the location that may have MS#9 with WS#6 and Base#3. 2. Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui Where you correctly mentioned if possible, some locations should not have the stove directly facing the wash basin or water position. In fact, there are lots, lots more considerations. What I had mentioned is just the "tip" of the ice-berg! 3. Commonsense Approach to Feng Shui We should also not discount this area. This is because much of Feng Shui has to do with commonsense. And because of commonsense - good or bad, somehow some Feng Shui concepts are derived. For example, a stove should be placed against a solid wall. Not not have it's back facing a window. For example, imagine if the stove has it's back with the window. And if there should be a strong gust of wind and if the windows are louvered, wind may inadvertly allow the fire to burn one's clothing. But, in modern times. it would make more sense to invest in a fire alarm or smoke detector(s). Here, if there is really a fire, the smoke detector(s) or sprinkers can help us.
