  1. Dear Anon, So far, so long as the specific site has properly converted mother's western date of birth to lunar calendar, you can then use it to "predict" a baby's gender. However, there is a question mark - personally have not fully reviewed the accuracy of the model as to whether there is a need to further fine-tune your date and time of birth towards Beijing time or not. In such a situation; could result in either baby being considered as a boy or girl. Thus the two major considerations are: 1. Convertmother's date of birth to lunar. 2. Have to guess whether or not to fine-tuneone's date of birth. If so, again there are so many variations. As it is not so simple to covert time based on GMT timing. For example, in Singapore, previously a few decade ago we changed our GMT timing to follow Malaysia and it happens to coincide with Hong-Kong-Beijing timing. In US, there is also the day-light hours etc.. In this modern age; best to consult own doctor... and use methods like ultra-sound etc... instead Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, Yes, since 5 represents the floor level, you should enter it as #05-xxx. If your unit happens to be#05-01 (where 5 represents the level) and each of the units in a block are : 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 then should enter the numbers thus as #05-01. Alternatively, if your unit does not follow the above number arrangements then you may have to enter it as #05-501. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Boniface, Yes, 17 steps based on the formula from this website is considered auspicious. Quote: Boniface Lan L. wrote: We are opening a petshop here in Manila. our interior designer told us, 20 stepsin staircase is unfavorable, following this formula on this site: http://www.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=21416&new= is 17the best step count? However, appreciate your understanding that the objective of this forum especially is to clarify or as a form of a catalyst to the proper understanding of Chinese methodology: Ba Zi, Feng Shui etc... but free advice, does not mean working out a specificentire case. 4. Dear Siment, Feel free to go to:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/reports.htm And generate a free report: Find out your Personal Element. You can find out whether you are a weak or strong "element". You can go to the main webpage of geomancy.net (on the right handside margin) you can find both 2008 and 2009 Forecast. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Anon, 1. Traditionally in Feng Shui, a work or study direction(s) depends on one's date of birth. For example, Male, Mr Sample Ficitious Person born on 19 December 1975 at 11.30am:- Work Position Report This report is generated for: Sample Ficitious Person Gender: Male Conversion of Date of Birth: Solar Calendar: 19 Dec 1975 between 11.00 a.m. to 12.59 p.m. Lunar Calendar: 1975, 11th month, 17 day, between 11.00 a.m. to 12.59 p.m. Please check that the above details are correct before proceeding. Otherwise, please correct it before reading the analysis. About Work Position This report is based on the principles of Eight House, and it helps you identify the best study position for you. These are analysis which suits you. This report is usually used in conjunction with a more comprehensive theory using 24 directions (Flying Star Report) that helps you access any potential problem which might exist in this sector. Your BEST work position Direction: North-West Exact Degree: 292.5 to 337.4 Description: This is your Prosperity direction. Direction: West Exact Degree: 247.5 to 292.4 Description: This is your Excellent direction. Your GOOD work position Direction: North-East Exact Degree: 22.5 to 67.4 Description: This is your Longevity direction. Direction: South-West Exact Degree: 202.5 to 247.4 Description: This is your Health direction. Your BADwork position Direction: South Exact Degree: 157.5 to 202.4 Description: This is your Spook direction. Direction: South-East Exact Degree: 112.5 to 157.4 Description: This is your Irritation direction. Your WORSTwork position Direction: North Exact Degree: 337.5 to 22.4 Description: This is your Disaster direction. Direction: East Exact Degree: 67.5 to 112.4 Description: This is your Death direction. 2. In the above, example, it is "NICE-TO-HAVE" this person facing NW or West as his best work or study directions. Quote: Also the desk has an attached shelf on it, which can be dettached if necessary. I read that having a shelf over the desk is not good in fengshui, would like to know if having shelf on the desk is ok or not in fengshui. 3. Some Feng Shui books say that open bookshelfs with books in it is like knives or poison arrows. 3.1 In fact, in "Commonsense Approach" to Feng Shui; many of us, when young do have open bookselves or simply books even placed on our study table. But many of us don't have or cannot recall having any issues with it. 3.2 More importantly, open bookselves encourage us to quicky pick up a book to read or refer to. 3.3 I would strongly encourage, those who have young children to have open bookselves especially just around arm's length. This is especially true for school going children; where often, their "semester" books or reference books are within their finger tips. Make it more conducive to study; then to have to open and close a cupboard or slide a cupboard door. 3.4 As mentioned, above, many of us have done it : have open bookselves". Not just because, someone writes that it is bad to have open shelves, we then don't keep up with it. 3.5 Fine, for books that we hardly refer to, if you want to keep it in a cupboard that has doors - go ahead. But for frequently accessed books or materials open bookshelves are fine. Quote: Considering the bagua map, the computer desk is placed in wealth and prosperity area of the living room(fame and reputation area of the house). But the desk is in straight line with the main door of the house as shown in the attachment. I read that the desk should not be placed across the door, would like to know if the above mentioned placement could cause any problems. If there is a poblem,is there any simple way of rectifying like placing something between the desk and the main door. The only other option i have is to place it in the relationship area of the room(as well as the home). 4. Sorry, the "fixed" template type of Ba Gua is not used in this website. As it is not authentic Feng Shui. Such as "fame and reputation" etc... 5. Under traditional Feng Shui, it would be nice for (in this example) this person sits in a west group location and if possible face the west group directions. For example, it would be GOOD if this person, sits in a NW or West or NE or SW location in a home and again nice to have him face a good westerly direction especially NW or West since these two sectors are his : Prosperity / Excellent directions. Quote: I read that the desk should not be placed across the door, would like to know if the above mentioned placement could cause any problems. 6. Thanks for your layout plan. So long as the computer table is not placed with one's back against the main door, this current position, under Shapes and Forms is still OK or acceptable especially if one does not have another better location than this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Mr Ang, In this sample report (broken into two parts); you will get a glimpse of how in this sample illustration a person: Male, Mr Fictitious Richard Peterson who is a west group person, actually is house hunting. For him, he is considered as a west group person and he is house hunting for a Period 7 home (1984 to 2003). In this sample report, under Part 1, you will find a sample of Flying Star direction and how suitable is that direction to Mr Ficitious Richard Peterson. In the second part, (SEE BELOW) you will see a break down of recommendations for him or Excellent homes, Auspicious homes based on the facing direction and his being a west group person. Excellent directions are: NW2 (307.5-322.4) , NW3 (322.5-337.4) , NE2 (37.5-52.4) , NE3 (52.5-67.4) , SW1 (202.5-217.4) , SW2 (217.5-232.4) , SW3 (232.5-247.4) , NW1 (292.5-307.4) Please see attachment for Part I. In part 1 you will notice e.g. NW2 home : there is some significance under Flying Star for that sector. IN ADDITION: The clue is that based on Flying Star, this home is not auspicious. But since MrFictitious Richard is a west group person, well this homeSTILL suits him although the flying star is not as good Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Hurbert, 1. Under Traditional Chinese system:- Ba Zi is used to determine name selection. For example, if a person lacks water... a geomancer may recommend that the person have a Chinese character with the "water or shui" element in their name. In addition, Ba Zi is used widely to determine Ming or Luck and other uses includes logo selection etc.. Ba Zi uses the Five Elements Concept to determine one's element and strength e.g. strong water, weak water etc... In addition, when we look at a home we apply Compass School of Feng Shui: Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. Purple star is actually "9" numbers or commonly called "9 Star Ki. It has more to do with Flying Star Feng Shui as Flying Star uses the 9 stars. 3. The origins of Purple star or 9 Star Ki came from China and went to Japan in ancient times. And the Japanese widely pratice 9 Star Ki. 4. In recent times e.g. 1980's you get British practitioners who learn 9 star ki mostly from Japan. For the Chinese, we use bazi to determine one's name. But do you hear of any British or Japanese use 9 Purple to select a name? Especially a Chinese name? Yes /No? 5. Thus Hurbert, please do consider where Ba Zi originates and where Purple star originates. For you to make your own conclusion. Authentic Traditional Geomancy sites, like Geomancy.net practises STRICLY Traditional Chinese methods and origins. Do consider where 9 star ki " purple star" arrived in and adopted by some country e.g. Japan and practised by Westerners especially the "Englishman." In my opinion, 9 star ki is one and the same as Flying Star. Yet, Flying Star is not even one-half of our Chinese traditional ba zi nor zi wei tou shou or astrology. I believe, in the past, manyJapanese and Westerners may not be too conversant with Yin/Yang and Five elements but9 star ki seems so..soo easy as it based purely on numbers 1 to 9. Under the Holy Trinity of (Chinese) Luck: 1. Heaven Luck 2. Earth Luck 3. Human Luck Ba Zi falls under Heaven Luck. Thus even for a new born Chinese, it is critical for some parents to get the baby name correct based on one's bazi. Earth Luck or Feng Shui. Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui and Compass School : Eight House and Flying Star. Human Luck. Family relationship, relationship with parents etc... You decide for yourself... i.e. you want to adopt or apply something that is directly comes from ancient China or something that comes in a circle : originate from China to Japan and now (UK)? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, The most effective placement of such stones (which are object of mass) can be at locations where The Flying Stars are Mountain Star #8 sector(s). Or especially if the sector has mountain star #1. Not ideal to place it at sectors that have Water Star #1 or Water Star #8. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I bought5 beautiful stone ignots from Mongolia, each representing the 5 elements. Since it is made of stone, instead of the traditional gold, I am not sure exactlyWHERE andHOW to place them in order to enhance my wealth and prosperity. I am a Strong Fire Snake and will this have an effect on placement of the stone ignots.
  9. Dear Shauuna, The alternative to "such a complicated" situation is to look to the basics of Chinese principles or concepts:. Most of the time, when we start reading books on Chinese principles and concepts, we will always find:- Uppermost level: Taichi Upper (branch) level : Yin and Yang concept Lower (branch) level: The Five elements concept. What you are trying to "meddle" or "fine tuning" is under the Five elements concept. In a "very complicated" case or sometimes we humans make it so..so ...so complicated... that doing something will impact on the other. Such as... "but I'm afraid that will boost the 9 giving fuel to the 5." There are two possibilities:- 1. Why make it so complicated? Thus try to look for an answer "one level" or "branch" higher i.e. Yin and Yang concept. If you have a "low consumption" bulb or light at that sector, turn it on especially in the night forroughly 6 or 8 hours a day. This is to make the sector more "yang" qi. 2. Is it possible to introduce all 5 elements at this sector? e.g. in terms of colours or objects. For example, if you have a painting or poster that hasmulti colours e.g. Black, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red and White or metallic... would equallybe good enough. Either para 1 or 2 above are acceptable in such a complicated "mess". Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, Given that the sector has #5 misfortune /sickness (strong erth) and an additional #2 sickness (strong earth); first priority is to fix the problem, first, then to enhance. Thus, try to see any other sectors that one can enhance instead of getting into - more complications. What about water star #8, if another sector has it and if it is possible to enhance this, then concentrate more on the other sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Dear Master Robert Lee, I have the following question: In the year 2008 we have the year star #8 (Earth) in the East and I would like to enhance it because it is an auspicious star. But unfortunately in the natal chart of the house there is the base star #5, the mountain star #7 and the water star 2. Would you anyhow suggest to enhance the year star #8? With best regards Arnold
  11. Dear Anon, Orange colour because of it's close resemblance to literally an "orange" or a "mandarin" orange is considered as "gold" colour. And gold belongs to the range of metal elements. Thus, painting it orange, would be bright and colourful! More importantly, many toilets are in enclosed area and often not well lit. Thus, especially if we do have elderly at home or youngsters, it is still good to go for light pastel colours in a toilet. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Is it advisable to paint the bathroom orange if it is in the NE sector of the home? Is it OK to use the enhancing color of orange in the NE earth sector when it is the bathroom, or is it best to use the destructive cycle when choosing colors for a bathroom? I do want to boost the energy for education, knowledge and mentoring. Thanks!
  12. Dear Anon, Once we (personally)find that a name has a "flaw", we should try to skip using the name unless it was given to us (usually) by our parents/grand parents. Thus, there are so many Chinese characters and it is always easy to find a name that may "suit" us. Quote: Anonymous wrote: What kind of meaning name "sinan" may have? As far as I know Sinan means "missing south" in Chinese.
  13. Dear Suzanne, 1. Under the Five element concept, it is true that fire produces or fuels earth element. If we take just this two element flow. 2. However, this is not the "end" of the world. Earlier on, you are just looking at what is known as a "TWO-ELEMENT" flow i.e. Fire give rise (or fuels) Earth (full stop). But it does not end, here. 3. One can look at it from a wider spectrum i.e. move into or apply a three element flow i.e. FIRE - 6. To get around the concern of: not able to introduce say Red, or Green or some other colours because of one reason or the other, we can instead, introduce the entire "range" of the Five elements. This is simply known as FIVE-element-flow or simply the Productive cycle. 7. Forinstance, children's bedroom. Often, we notice that these bedroom(s) are colourfully decorated with Mickey mouse and other cartoon charcters and these cartoon characters have a splash of black (water element); red (fire element), green or brown (wood element), yellow (earth element)and blue (water element). These splash of colours are often found on children's bedsheets. Once we have so many multi colours, we are already introducing the full five elements flow. And do not need to be too concerned of one colour even if that specific colour is "bad for the room". Such as what you are concerned now i.e. Red would inflame bad #5 yellow. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Jude, The key word is: Location, location, location. What is most important are both the external and interior Feng Shui of a home. This involves: Shapes and Forms and Compass School of Feng Shui. The Compass School of Feng Shui is based on both the : Kua (Gua) and Flying Star Feng Shui. Currently, what you are looking at is just the Kua (Gua) of a person. And the directions you mentioned are considered very "simplisitc" as it does not take into account Flying Star Feng Shui. Where under Flying Star Feng Shui, directions are equally important not just the Kua (Gua) of a person. What you are doing therefore only takes into account directions based on persons with no relation to directions based on the birth-chart of the home i.e. Flying Star Feng Shui. Quote: I will be placing my bed headboard in the northwest but according to the pa kua of the house the bathroom is in the career place & kitchen in the friends place Proper application of Feng Shui is like taking an examination. No need to tell many of us how to pass examinations as the key essence is to try to maximize as much marks as possible. For example, if we are suppose to answer 5 questions out of 10. And each question carries 20 marks. And if we already know that "pa kua of the house the bathroom is in the career place & kitchen in the friends place" it is not like we can get the earthquake to shift our bathroom to e.g. North etc... And even if we try to "pathe - the bathroom in gold" we are not going to maximize marks, here. Thus, the idea is not to look or try to squeeze as much luck if this is not possible, here but to look elsewhere to achieve more marks. Feng Shui is about trying to fix as many leaks as possible and enhance sectors that have good qi. For areas, that it is nearly impossible to improve on... don't crack your head on them! And yield very low returns. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, 1. To be completely candid, such items do not possess any "magical" attributes. 2. In recent years, a significant number of these products have become purely commercial ventures... Somehow, many individuals appear to be swayed by marketing tactics into purchasing these items. 3. To be truthful, these commercial goods are prevalent because they can be produced inexpensively and sold at a high price. Furthermore, many of these items do not guarantee wealth for their owners! Once sold, caveat emptor! "Let the buyer beware!" 4. Consider it this way: during the era of my parents, grandparents, or even great-grandparents, many of these products were never created... only recently, particularly from the early 1980s onward, have such items been produced under the guise of "Feng Shui." 5. Honestly, observe all the wealthy individuals, both Chinese and non-Chinese. They possess decorative pieces, but these are simply ornamental items, not associated with "Feng Shui"... this and that! 6. If you watch many of the Chinese period costume dramas from earlier times, the martial arts masters do not utilize items like a pi xiu! 7. The affluent continue to accumulate wealth because they receive sound advice on acquiring properties with "excellent Feng Shui." Excellent Feng Shui does not entail placing all those "silly" objects throughout the home! Goodness gracious! 8. I feel sympathy for many Singaporeans residing in cramped Housing Board apartments. Just a few steps and one reaches the end of the living room/dining area. Yet, these homes are cluttered with a "laughing Buddha," fish tanks, numerous altars, and all kinds of "nonsense" in the name of fake Feng Shui products! Why, despite having all these items, do these individuals not become wealthy? 9. Roll-over credit It is unfortunate that some individuals are already burdened with significant credit card debt... and yet... some of these sellers continue to urge these unfortunate souls to purchase these decorative commercial items! 10. Rather than alleviating their debt, these individuals hope that "money literally" falls from the sky after placing items like the them. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. I was astonished to discover that when we buy a 3M floor mat priced at only Singapore $29.90, it includes a TWO-year warranty! Why not request the seller of high-priced items, such as those costing S$688 or more, to provide you with a guarantee card? For instance, within 14 days of purchase, one might expect money to fall from the sky! Human Luck factor: Unfortunately, some naive individuals tend to rely on hope; for some of these people, perhaps, an indirect advantage of acquiring such items is the hope they provide... This is the sole justification or rationale for purchasing such commercial products! Honestly, this site would be quite prosperous if we embraced the misguided ideals of marketing such commercial goods! However, it contradicts our principles to do so! 10. Rather than alleviating their debt, these individuals hope that "money literally" falls from the sky after placing items like the them.
  16. Dear Anon, It is best to check to confirm that you are a "weak wood" person after you have entered your time-of-birth, under the url below:- freereport.geomancy.net - Thus, STRICTLY from the Five Elements concept in relation to a weak wood person, a "fire" career is considered inauspicious. You have used your own intutition and feltthat you may not be keen to go into the plastic injection industry. Frankly, it is best to consult family members also for their opinion. Given that you are not that young born in 1966 and in Singapore, may not be considered "young" labour force anymore... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Deoyani, 1. To the Chinese, we are very particular about feet facing the main door (or bedroom door). This is because, we call this the "coffin position" where, some still practise bringing the coffin into the home. And when the time is up for funeral ceremony, the coffin is moved with the feet first out of themain door. 2. For other races, if the above is not practised, this is not so bad. 3. Based on Commonsense approach to Feng Shui, many of us may not like (e.g. in an apartment or landed property) if we were to open the main door, let others view our entire body since our leg is facing the door. 4. The last resort is (if no choice is to) close the bedroom door when we are sleeping... Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Deoyani S. wrote: However, that means my bed and feetarefacing the main door, and I read that these two are not good things.
  18. Dear Anon, To be honest, over a few sentences, it is very difficult to pin-point what is the issue. Generally, if everything else remains the same and then when we shift to a new home; issues come-up. Most likely there are "wealth-leaks" in your existing home: For the home Feng Shui, the leak(s) could be due to Shapes and Forms: do stand inside the main door looking outwards... check for any "poison" arrows such as lone lamp posts etc... or any pointed roofs of neighbours aiming either towards the main entrance door or the windows. The other concern is how suitable the home is to the male breadwinner and other Compass School concerns and if possible the knowledge to neutralise these. Frankly, moving home sounds simple, but can be a double edged sword: for the lay person, how are you going to know whether, the new home is better or could be worse off than the present home. For things like Feng Shui etc.. better to seek professional help, if you can in your area. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Y L, Please see sample fictitious person, below:- Mr Lee Peng Tat, Male; born 4 April 1975 at 3.30am:- Ba Zi Expert Review Summary [1.] Lee Peng Tat, Male - 04 Apr 1975 at 3.00 a.m. to 4.59 a.m. Lunar Calender: 1975, 2nd month, 23 day Birth Element: Weak Metal Likes: Earth (yellow), Metal (white/gold) Dislikes: Fire (red), Water (blue/black/gray) Wealth: Wood (green/brown) NOTE: Wealth element auspicious only if you are a Strong Metal, otherwise it will bring you lots of problem This is a very important concept for you to improve your luck. Five element can be applied in many ways, but most important is the Colours of any objects etc. Your Overall Best Ba Zi & Eight House Combine Direction ie suitable to both ba zi and eight house:- Favourable Metal - Prosperity - North-West Metal - Excellent - West Earth - Longevity - North-East Earth - Health - South-West Unfavourable Water - Disaster - North Wood - Death - East Wood -Irritation - South-East Fire - Spook - South Average (ie. either bazi or eight house wasn't suitable) Your Home (Ba Zi / Macro Application) ie a suitable house element. House element is determined by the facing of the house.:- Favourable Earth - North-East/South-West Metal - North-West/West Unfavourable Fire - South Water - North Wood - East/South-East Your Suitable Direction/Sector (Eight House / Micro Application) ie which sector is good for you to study/work/sleep:- SPECIAL NOTE: 1. This is based on Eight House (YEAR) of birth, most important is to ensure that the Death and Diaster are avoided even if the Ba Zi direction is favourable. 2. Eight House most suitable to apply in small bedroom, while ba zi more for like North of Singapore. Favourable Prosperity - North-West Longevity - North-East Excellent - West Health - South-West Unfavourable Disaster - North Death - East Spook - South Irritation - South-East Your Bedroom decor ie shades of colours and furniture colours:- Favourable Earth - yellow Metal - white/gold Unfavourable Fire - red Water - blue/black/gray Wood - green/brown Your personal objects / dressing ie shades of colours:- Favourable Earth - yellow Metal - white/gold Unfavourable Fire - red Water - blue/black/gray Wood - green/brown Your career ie a Job favourable for you are:- Favourable Earth - Customer Relations, Constructions, Games, etc Metal - Accountancy, Banking, Investment, etc Unfavourable Fire - Marketing, Sales, Fashion, etc Water - Advertising, Arts, Communications, etc Wood - Engineering, Filming, Hospital, etc People around you ie your family your friends etc. Favourable Strong Earth, weak Metal person Unfavourable weak Water, Strong Fire person Your Compatible Animal Signs ie compatible animal signs for partner:- Excellent - Ram, Dog, Dragon, Pig Avoid - Rooster, Rat, Tiger Your Travel Direction ie a good direction for any major travel plans:- Favourable Earth - North-East/South-West Metal - North-West/West Unfavourable Fire - South Water - North Wood - East/South-East Your Chinese name ie a good name would help to increase your weak element. This is especially so for newborn child. For adult, best to work on other areas listed above. The period ? ie luck changes each day, month, year etc. So different period you will find your luck changes from up and down. Thus you should take advantage of those good luck period for doing any important thing in your life. Your Five Element Breakdown 0 Weak Water 2 Strongest Wood 4 Strong Fire 3 Extremely Weak Earth 3 Weakest Metal 0% 28% 45% 8% 17% This tells me that you are a Weak Metal because of too little Earth (8%). Your element is born in a season which is makes Metal Element Weakest. Thus, influencing the element strength of the other five element elements. The percentage of each element is considered after considering the seasonal strength and the number of that element present. Thus, your favourable elements are Earth (8%) and Metal (17%) Elements. Wood (28%) is your wealth element. However, as you are a Weak Metal, you first need to be stronger in order to control your wealth element. Based on the percentage of the Five Element of each of your favourable element. You should attempt to enhance the favourable element with least percentage, followed by the favourable element with the next lowest percentage. As Weak Metal, your favourable elements are Earth (8%) / Metal (17%) . Earth (8%) is your most favourable element. Metal (17%) is your next most favourable element. Your unfavourable elements are Fire (45%) / Water (0%) / Wood (28%). Fire (45%) is your most unfavourable element. As you have too much of Fire, it is best to avoid it having too much more. Wood (28%) is your next unfavourable element. Water (0%) is your least unfavourable element. You have a very unbalanced Five Element distribution. Often, this produces signs of a person with several possible health problems. You have 0% Water element. This often signify possible Health related problems to the Kidney and Sex Organ. The ideal balance of each element is generally 20% of each element. However, it is difficult to achieve exactly 20% of each element. This is because it is difficult to know exactly how much of each element you have at any point in time. So as long as you have more of your favourable elements, you will improve your balance and harmony. In the above, chart, one notices that for Mr Lee Peng Tat; the breakdown of his Five Elements when he was born are as follows:- 0 Water = 0 % 2 Strong Wood = 28 % 4 Strong Fire = 45 % 3 Extremely weak Earth = 8 % 3 Weak Metal = 17 % Traditionally, when we are born, some Chinese parents or even grand parents would bring our date and time of birth to a geomancy to recommend names for example: this newly born male child. One of the factors that the geomancer will look at is something like above i.e. the child's 5 elements. In the above example, one can from a quick glance see that the child already have too much "fire" in his chart. The child lacks water and secondly earth element. All Chinese characters (or names) can be classified under one of the five elements: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth or Metal. Thus, the geomancer will help to select a good name, based on the above consideration and other factors. For example, you can read the sample of how Robert Lee does name analysis:- http://www.geomancy.net/consultation/consult-others/nameanalysis.htm Traditionally, name selection usually is during the time a child is born and a CHINESE (Mandarin) name is selected accordingly. In many countries like Singapore, many people conduct business in English and often if we don't use the Chinese name, even if we do change our name... it is of lesser relevance. In your case, if you do a deed poll to updated to your new ENGLISH name, there is no issue, here. BUT, if you were to try to convert this new ENGLISH name to a Chinese (Mandarin ) name, then, you may consider getting help to get a proper Chinese name especially if one is going to add the name to one's Chinese name card or deed poll. Generally, if one does not often use one's Chinese name, then no need to get a Chinese name or add it to your name card. For those who are not Chinese, but who may want to get a Chinese name, may do so, but try to seek help from a geomancer to recommend a name for you. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Lay Eng, Have to empathise with you. To be honest; this has more to do with "human or man luck" then Feng Shui or Heaven's Luck (ba zi). Really very hard to solve given that you have such neighbours. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Anon, Yes, in a global world, there are many practises in relating to "getting" rid of bad luck. Salt is used more widely in the west than the east or Far East. Although we use it to throw into used toilet when we get a re-sale home. So you are not wrong in coming down with using that practise of using salt. Here, in the Far East, our common way of "getting rid" of bad luck is also to get a bathe, first. And afterwards, (we already had prepared say a plastic basin/tub filled with local flowers and a few cut-up lime). So immediately after we had bathed (cleansed) ourselves, we would "flower bathe) by pouring this flower-lime-water onto our heads and let it flow down our entire body. After 2 hours or more, then go in and clear and throw away the flowers. (Some just immediately throw the flowers-lime away - still ok). Anonymous wrote: Hi, I read that to get rid of bad luck, we can take a salt bath from head to toe. Is that true? Frankly, present day "Feng Shui accessories" are highly commercialised products. Instead, best to conserve the money and save it for a rainy day. Especially since many of these products have no relation to the home qi or chi. And with such high mark-ups and huge profits to be made, these products does not come with any guarantee! In fact, some owe so much much via roll over credit (credit card) that they go further into debt! Also, is there any feng shui accessories I can purchase to help my husband's career? He's lost his job twice even with a college degree. Should I add a water feature to help our money situation and his career? If yes, where should I place it? It is best not to "any-how" place any water feature etc... as water at the wrong location can affect: health, wealth and even marriage. Should I add a water feature to help our money situation and his career? If yes, where should I place it? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Leonards, Frankly, there is no right or wrong answers. For those who study subjects like strategic planning; have to consider things like: The Industry, The Firm, The Individuals (people) in the firm. For example: in the past, Accounting and Banking in general is associated with money. And there has been a long association with money = metallic coins. Thus it is not wrong to say that Banking and Accounting is or can be associated with metal. Thus the Industry and even the Firm e.g. a Bank can be considered as belonging to the metal element. However, as you were wondering... little do you realise that you or the individual working in say an Accounting or Banking industry or firm could be associated with other job specifications. Thus, if one is selling or marketing a bank's product can be considered as Fire element. If you are an accountant and analysing the financial reports, sure, you can be considered as performing a Wood function. Similarly, if one does conveyancing or perform law functions in a bank such as handling title deeds of homes / offices loans.. then one is also doing Fire element. If one works in a bank but performs IT work, then his major job specifications is Water. Therefore, please see the point, here. There is really no right or wrong answers. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Hoa, Traditionally, it should be based on the Chinese Lunar Calendar i.e. 7 February 2008. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee Quote: Hoa L. wrote: When does my house fengshui for year 2008 begin? on Jan 1 of the western calendar or Jan 1 of the chinese calendar?
  24. Dear All, The same method can be applied for the home. Please see illustration for a typical Singapore Housing-Development Board flat. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
  25. Attached, please find the placement of Five Treasures in a Boss Room:- Here: a set of three coins each represents : Wealth. And just at the main entrance to the room, a set of three coins are placed. Each time, someone steps into the room they are stepping on wealth. Another set of 3 coins each is placed directly just below the boss feet. Again, each time he steps on it; he is stepping on wealth. In addtion, in the illustration, addition set of three coins each is placed at each of the corners of the room with the exception of the corner where the main entrance door is. This is known as placing "The Five Treasures in a room". Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
