I cannot shift the stove back to kitchen due to some restraints. Please advise whatcan Ido as I heard the stove &washingmachine shouldnot be placingeach other. Generally, the it is often not good for stove to face the fridge/washing machine. But this depends on the type of washing machine. For example front loading washing machine has a glass porthole. Thus under symbolism in Feng Shui, when water fills up the washing machine, it is considered a clash of water and fire (element). However, it should not be a major issue with TOP loading washing machine. Given that it does not have a glass pothole facing the stove. If one uses a front loading washing machine, in some homes, it is quite possible for just the side of this washing machine to face the stove. If so, then there is no clash of "water" and stove. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  2. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I've brought a resale flat recently. The master bedroom has built-in head-board& side cabinet for the bed/mattress. I noticed that the bed will be facing the door. Is it a good feng shui as I heard the it is not advisable to sleeping with with legspointing with the door. I do not want the shift the bed locationdue to theconstraints of the built-in cabinets & wardrobe. Do you have a skech or drawing of your current layout? As it is hard to suggest other alternatives or to see if you are really having this coffin position layout which is usually inauspicious. The problem most people are talking about is to have a bed that is position in such a way that when you open the door, you see the person's sleeping directly in front. Which looks like what we call a coffin position just like when people is trying to carry the dead out of the room. The only solution for this is position the bed in a different position or keep it blocked by some drop down curtain / partition etc. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  3. Dear Simon, Simon Lau wrote: Comparing it with my house which my main door is facing NE, master bedroom W, child bedroom SW and kitchen NW, it seems like my house is in a very bad position. In general, the only way to correct a suitable house or suitable room is either to move a more suitable house or choose a better bedroom. Otherwise, there is very little you can do in terms to correcting a suitability issues. Firstly, you should confirm your facing of the house, as the main door falling under the NE sector may not necessary be the actual facing of your home. So determine whether your house falls under:- 1. Apartment (2nd - 7th level), facing of the house is determined by the facing direction of the main door. 2. Apartment (8th level and up), facing of the house is determined by the facing direction of the living room / balcony facing. 3. Landed Property, facing of the frontage of the house. If the facing of your house falls in one of your better sector, then it is not so bad. As the house is considered suitable to you. If it is still North-East, then the house is deemed a very unsuitable house. In terms of bedroom, the bedroom isn't the most suitable, however, if the facing is suitable, then it is not so bad. Next, since a house is quite an expensive investment, it can be quite difficult to simply say move to a more suitable house. But what you can do is at least:- 1. Make sure that you correct or fix up any major flaws in the flying star chart of your home. This will minimise any other factors from affecting your luck. 2. Enhance your room with favourable colours based on your ba zito boost up your own luck. And if possible at least position your bed and sleeping direction in your best direction (ie North, East, South-East, South). But since it is west, keep it off-white, and avoid bright yellow or red to activate the 2006 star 5 in this sector of the room. So what you should do is focused on minimising other problem areas that might reduce your luck. This way, it will help to offset some of the unsuitable luck. However, in the long run if your house is facing your Disaster sector it generally means it is unsuitable. So in order to get quantum leap in feng shui luck, the only way is to move to a more suitable house. In the short run, you can try to minimise other leaks in the house that might further reduce your luck. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

  5. Dear Mr. Lee, Thank You very much for your advice. I am bit confused about the following advice you have givenie., "if you have a feng shui ruler every8 inch will fall under the auspicious dimensions ie 7-10 inch or 15-18 inch etc." Would you please explain to me what you mean by this? My understanding is that the length of the desk should be a multiple of 8 such as 56, 64, 72 or 120,128, 136 or 144. Did Iunderstand it correctly? Thank You. Anon
  6. Dear Cecil, What is the best measurement for a study desk? Height, width and length. How should the study desk be positioned. Also, it is extremely difficult to find a closed book shelf for purchase. What is the cure for a open book shelf. What color should the study room be painted? I am thinking of installing a crystal ceiling fixture is this okay! or should I use quartz? Thank You Malli
  7. I read that we must not use crystal in the marriage corner and health or wealth corner. I am planning to install lights on the south, east and north wall with crystals, which also have gold plated metal band. 2 of these walls are our mariage corner and the east is my husband's health corner.Isit good to install the fixture described above or should I choose a metal (brass) fixture. Also, could I install crystal fixtures on the ceiling of a master bedroom. I am trying to improve the relationship to be harmonious. Thank you Malli
  8. Dear Anon, Usually, this has more to do with "commonsense approach" to Feng Shui. As it is felt that a bedroom is a place of privacy and in that respect, ideally; the bedroom door should not face the main door. Otherwise, usually, other than "commonsense"; it has more to do with our own comfort (or feel good-feel-bad) type of situation. Especially if we open the main entrance door most of the time and if it is an apartment, someone walking past our home could peep into or peer into our bedroom. This is even more so, if the door looks directly into the bed! One approach is often to avoid having our bed placed against the wall visible to the main entrance door. Often, at this wall, we could place the wardrope or leave it "clear-space". The main idea is not to allow our bed to be seen directly from the main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Hi, my bedroom door is directly aligned with the main door. Is it bad? If yes, any remedy for this? Appreciate your professional advice. Thanx!
  9. Dear Sophie, Further to what I mentioned; besides the ba zi element i.e. Heaven chart of a child, the most important consideration has to be biological! Usually, doctors would advise women to give birth as early as possible as when we turn 35 years old (unfortunately) some (women) may have difficulty conceiving. And sometimes the older we get the greater the risk of having children. Above, is just food for thought! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Sophie, This is an interesting question! Actually, this has nothing to do with Feng Shui. But belong to the "Heaven luck" category or Ba Zi! Many of the information relates purely to the Chinese rather than applying universal to everyone else. For example, 2010 or between 14 Feb 2010 to 2 Feb 2011, this is suppose to be the Year of the Tiger. And in the past, many parents gave away a "baby-tiger-girl" child and place the child at the front steps of this convent:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/amenu/amenu.htm In local culture, sometimes it ain't bad to have a child born under e.g. the tiger year as often; because of the lower birth-rate, many of such child could get into "better" schools because there are fewer birthrate for that year. Contrast this to a child having to compete both going into a school: getting a place and competing academically with others for future places in secondary and even high schools. However, locally, many people still consider the Year of birth as important thus popular birth signs include: the dragon, ok years include the rat, the pig, rabbit etc... From a Ba zi perspective, when we determine the birth-sign of the child often, it goes down to the DAY of birth. Thus, each day will see a different birth element that covers a ten-day cycle: Thus, for example: today could be a Metal day. Tomorrow can be the water day etc.... We do get parents who intend to undergo cessarian birth requesting to check which day / and time for the birth of their child(ren). Warmest Regards, Cecil sophie corcoran wrote: hi there, my bday is 2 oct 1982 my boyfriend soon to b husbandis 31 jan 1976 when would b a good time 2 plan 2 have a baby so that they will b born at a time wen they will benifit from the feng shui in the same way we will and so that weall getalong? wewant 2 children, but not untill 2007/2008, 2009/2010/2011? i kno u cant predict exactly when the child will b born but could u give me an idea or way 2 work out if the child will b water, earth, metal etc and wat chinese horoscope will be best 4 us and the baby? thankyou
  11. Dear Anthony, I hope I get your question correctly. If you are using the Luo Pan; there are many different types of Luo Pan out there. But no matter which type it is; the traditional Luo Pan has it's needle (always) pointed towards the magnetic"south" and the opposite side facing north. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anthony Lau Weng Loong wrote: Under this feng shui their is the early heaven arrangemt in luo shu & later heaven arrangement in luo shu rite. But the later heaven arrangement in the luo shu is different from the Luo Pan that I have so how am I going to get the direction rite??? And using the Luo Pan which is the rite direction should I look for and the needle should pointed at which direction usually??? I very confuse ???????????
  12. Dear Dharmawan, Wow! This is certainly new to me! In my opinion, I would consider this as simply "hocus-pocus" type of linkage or consideration. Imagine, if some of us were born in the year of the rabbit, then, we MUST rear rabbits? Or if we are born in the year of the tiger? How do we rear a free roaming tiger? Hmm... In addition, for many Malays especially in Singapore or Malaysia, have never touched a "dog" or had not rear one as dogs especially their saliva is considered "dirty". More importantly, I would consider this area that you had mentioned as belonging not so much as to Feng Shui (EARTH luck) of the home but rather: Human or man luck area. Here, often especially in Singapore, you get to see: 1. Just married couples: Often, it could be the wife that reared a pet e.g. a pet dog prior to their marriage and thus when the husband married her, they literally inherit the pet! But often, once this couple starts a real family, they often have no time for their pet! 2. Married but do not have children at all: There is quite alot of people who fall under this category. And these are the people that rear one or more pets e.g. dog(s) etc... The other question is: Rearing a pet for the sake of "Feng Shui (FS)"? Often, if one has only motivation to rear a pet in the name of FS? Then often many would find it a CHORE to do so. But of course if one falls in love with the animal, then it is often another matter totally. But, often if we are just "tolerating" the animal; we may even end up with more quarrels e.g. who is going to feed, wash and worse -- clean up on the dog's pooh! Therefore, it is truly unbelieveable that we must literally rear an animal linked to our animal sign! Worse still again, Malays find pigs unclean and ..... Warmest Regards, Cecil Dharmawan Halim wrote: I was born in a metal dog year. Just heard from a fortune teller in Indonesia that people born in the Dog year are advised to rear a pet dog at home to significantly improve their luck. The dog is expected to enhance the Feng Shui balance and harmony, and therefore improve their luck. Is this true? I have never heard about this before and have never reared a dog. My daughter, however, was born in a Dragon year. Would a dog conflict with her? Would a dog conflict with the turtle that I have been rearing for a year in the North sector (with no significant improvement in my career luck). Thanks
  13. Dear Yen, In a general question, such as this: "It depends!". As no two homes are often the same, like you have mentioned: one has to be extra careful of neighbour's pointed roof(s) - especially if they are aimed towards the perspective new home. In addition, things like lone lamp-post(s) slicing into the windows / main entrance of the home are also considerations of Feng Shui threats. Other considerations also include where is the drainage from / into and out of the property as this will affect the wealth of the home. Thus, some homes, it is OK to face the corner lot, while others, it may not be good especially if the corner of the opposite home or roof is aimed wrongly at thehome under consideration for purchase. Warmest Regards, Cecil Yen S wrote: Hi, I couldn't find the same question in your website. Therefore, I thought, maybe I just post it here. I'm currently looking for a house. I'm wondering, what's wrong with a house facing a corner lot. And of course, u can see the triangle roof right in front of the front gate. (landed property). The house has a sliding door, facing the front gate. And another door facing the left of the house. Hope to see the answer. thanks.
  14. Dear Sean, Frankly, so far, I have not read or known of any relationship between Feng Shui and `manipulation' of weather. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, Many years back, I had written on the issue of "long houses". For example, many years back, the long house e.g in Sarawak is pretty unique and quite similar to your case. However, their long house can even be longer than the 120 ft long as you had mentioned. Yes, unfortunately, between the pie and the grid, if it is a long house than the grid method is often preferred over the pie in your case. Thus, no choice, long and thin would be the better way to analyse the home vs the pie which is difficult to apply in such a type of home. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: I live in a house that is 18 ft wide and 120 ft long. 17. Dear Elena, Oops! I am sleeping on one myself! Yes, this is a very common type of design! Many of us (or the likes of us) have slept on such a bed / bed-head frame... for many years! Why not... let's start burning all those books that says that it's bad! Cheers! Cecil Elena Oldham wrote: It is a very popular style for the bed head board to be in the form of a half circle or "hill" I call it. It is low on the sides and rises up in the middle. After the fact, I read in one of the books that it is bad to have a head board in the shape that resembles the chinese coffin. Is this true and can any remedy be applied?
  18. Dear Anon, For "fire-at-heaven's" gate, another remedy is the use of "earth" at the fire-gate-area. For example, earthenware or do add some pottery pieces at the location. Here, under the Five Elements concept: "Earth" element helps to draw or reduce the "Fire" element. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Hello -- Just bought my second house with, what I now beleive is fire at heaven's gate. In first apartment, I actually had a feng shui practitioner fail to mention the problem to me before I purchased and before I did renovations-- however, I discovered it when I began doing research on wealth remedies because I couldn't keep or bring in any money in while I was there. Low and behold, I used a cheapo compass when viewing my current home and again -- it's uncanny, I can have a potential client ready to send me a check and, at the last minute, the deal falls apart, or in another instance, the company that I freelance for is having cash flow problems, checks have been lost in the mail -- it really is pehnominal. At this point, I'm selling my stove and replacing it with a butcher block cutting board counter(I'm a raw foods vegan so I won't miss the stove) But wondering what else I should do. Also wondering about my stairs(not a full flight but more of a landing in a split level home) which face the front door.
  19. Dear Olivia, I have sketched out the basic good designs on the wall behind the head-board. Generally, the worst kind of head board is in the shape of "tomb-stones" & "circle" shapes. 20. Dear Sophie, To be honest, even in the "east", Far East, when we set to do space clearing, we simply go ahead to clean-up the home. - The quick and easy method! I did not know that in the "west", for some, things sound so ..so.. complicated! Wow! In my opinion, more like hocus-pocus to me! Therefore, the quickest easy method is "JUST DO IT!" Cheers! 22. Thank you SO much Master Lee. This has been a very confusing area (Flying Star chart numbers) for me during the 3 years I have studied tradtional Chinese feng shui. No one, until you, has explained the process of choosing a remedy (first Productive then Destructive). It is such a simple and basic point, yet if a student is not aware of it, it becomes quite a large issue. Once again THANK YOU!! 23. Dear All, Further to what I had mentioned, nearly in some developments (or site) there can be possibly plot(s) of land that are either: 1. Front-wide ; back-narrow or 2. Front-narrow ; back-wide On the attached layout plan, I have already marked two plots of land: one plot in blue outline and another in pink outline. Please check out the attachment. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Maggie, Sorry, what I meant was that in general, "it-depends" such as is the plot of land flat? -OK Or is the back sloping downwards a hill? -Inauspicious In particular, how the home is constructed on this plot of land is equally important, inclusive of water course (such as drains etc...) Thus, generally, there is no right or wrong answers: it depends on Location, location, location. Each plot has to be reviewed on it's own basis since there can be different interpretations of how wide or how narrow.... But generally, other than what I had attached earlier "an entrapped" home; I have known of many homes which have been constructed, stayed in such as "front wide-back narrow" or "front narrow-back wide". Therefore " IT-DEPENDS!". Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Maggie Lua wrote: Thank you for your advice. Just to clarify your reply. You mentioned that the "opposite" of Front Narrow Back Wide is "true". In this situation, the word "true" mean Front Narrow Back Wide is inauspicious or Front Wide Back Narrow is bad?
  25. Dear Thoa Le, Yes, if the home flies to Period 8 N1, then the water tank can still remain at SE particularly to help drown the MS#2 and WS#5 at this sector and also reduce the effects of the palace (base star) #7 - loss / robbery/theft star. However, please take note that other than having double 8's at the frontage; and good sectors at North-East and East sectors; other sectors do not have very goodflying star numbers under Period 8 N1, you should do a bit more homework to see if some of the bad #'s do not come into other sectors of the home or need to neutralise, them. Thus, flying to Period 8 N1 - needs closer study since it can be a "double-edged" sword.. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Thoa Le wrote: We're currently living in a N1 period 7 house, we have a 20,000 litres of rain water tank 3x3m in our south east. We have been using it intensively for 2 years to water our big garden. If harmful what can be done ? Thank you very much for your help.
